Timing belt on 2014 es300h?
Does the 2014 es300h have a timing belt that requires changing at specific intervals? The dealer told me he thought they are using a timing chain hence no scheduled maintenance.

LOL, what was old is new again. Chains used to be the way back in the day, but then they went to belts. Now chains are back. Good thing though. I did have a belt go out on a Pontiac in the early '90s. No damage to engine but I was left high and dry on the side of the interstate.

I've wondered, with timing belts, how often they do fail on vehicles where the owners went beyond the recommended time for replacing them. I've always suspected that the manufacturers' stated replacement intervals were quite conservative, but considering the potential for a very expensive repair if the belt fails, I haven't been interested in testing to see how many miles I could go without replacing the belts. My guess would be, though, that there are a good number of vehicle owners who never replace them and who don't experience a failure even though they have gone well beyond the recommended change interval. In any case, I was pleased to see that the ES350 uses a timing chain.

There is nothing forever and even if we have a timing chain I wonder to know if our 6 cylinder engine is interference type or not. Anyone?
