Same here with two Lexus in 6 years. Every now and then a quirk here and there but nothing major. The nav in my 2010 (1st year for the HD system) worked very well..

Are you sure? My '06 had a DVD player in the trunk and was updated by replacing the DVD with the next generation DVD (which I did). So you're saying that the '13 has a DVD player in the trunk and that's how it's updated? Not a download?

No the method of storing the data has changed. It's a HD system now, as it was in my 2010 ES. My 03 ES and 04 LS had DVD based nav, as did your Avalon. But the system is basically the same system, just the method of storing the data has changed.

DVD vs HD makes no difference in how the system operates.
