V-Belt sound on cold start
I have this v-belt/serpentine sound back in Aug and mention it to my mechanic when I went in for an inspection and oil change. I normally hear it in the morning on start up but after driving for 15mins or so the sound goes away. He said he look into it and to see if i need an adjustment. Ever since then I haven't hear the belt sound until last week. Does this mean I need to replace it soon/or readjust it? I think he said once the car is running the belt will readjust by itself? I am currently at 55k miles should I just replace it? How does these belt normally last to? BTW: I have a 2010 ES

You can't adjust the V-belt on those cars. Buy a can of belt dressing and spray it on the inside with the engine running.

Noise can also be an idler or alternator pulley bearing. And while the belt cannot be adjusted manually, there is a belt tensioner that, if it is not applying the proper tension on the belt, will cause it to squeak. A mechanic's stethoscope should reveal a bearing problem. There are some tricks on checking the belt. See:
