S/T not unlocked message
Hi, I'm new to this forum, just purchased a used 2007 ES350 with 60,000 miles on it and have an issue with the push button start. On occasion the push button start does not work, I get an error message that the S/T in not unlocked, along with a red warning triangle. After several attempts of depressing the button coupled with opening the door, there is a noticeable click on the steering column almost like an electric catch, and the car starts. This happens about once every 15 starts. I have checked through this forum but only found references to a similar message when using a key. Has anyone had a similar experience and does anyone know what the solution is. Intermittent problems are hard to diagnose and dealers are very expensive when diagnosing intermittent problems. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
thank you very much!

Thank you for the quick reply. It sounds complicated, I will try to analyze it using the steps indicated, then I will take it to a dealer. Thanks again.
