Default Brakes on 2008 es 350

Do the brakes on this car have wear indicators from the factory that screech when the pads become badly worn? I have around 45m miles on mine and i need to know if it will squeal at me or if i need to take it in to have them checked. Also, is it a good idea in general to have the brakes checked every so many miles, irregardless?

Owner's Manual should state to check the pads every other oil change. Depending on your wheels, you may be able to inspect through the spokes; if not, you will have to remove your wheel to examine the pads. It does not seem like the pads come with wear indicator or at least what we see on our end.

I did not see any electronic wear sensors such as my old BMW.

I imagine they would chirp over time as with most other break pads. Check for the noise primarily in reverse.

For what it is worth mine just passed 30k and fronts still have plenty of meat on them. I would guess they might last to 60k before I get the itch to replace them. Rears will probably be fine to 80k and beyond. Also factory rotor has plenty of wear too - this should be easy for you to check with the wheel still on. Feel for a lip on the wearing edge. Don't do this after driving!!! Only check first thing in the morning if you touch the rotor....

Also good to see the answer from the vendor here - I will probably look at that product when I change my stuff out in a couple years.

OEM pads (front and rear) have wear indicator tabs. You need to either transfer the clips from the old pads, or get new ones.

They will sound as the wear gets close to metal (about 1 mm - again, OEM spec).
