Default 2010 ES gas smell in the cabin

We bought this car new in 2010 and it has been a reliable car. Tonight we smelled gas in the cabin after refueling. It had not happened before in the last 3 years of ownership. I did not top off the gas tank.

What could cause the gas smell in the cabin? What should I do about it?

Thanks in advance.

Could you have had gas on your hands or feet when you got back in the car? Thats the most likely thing. Maybe a puddle of fuel under the pump that you stepped in?

You are probably right, Steve. We did not smell any gas today. I did have my wife smell my hands for gas yesterday. But she did not detect any gas on my hands. Maybe I stepped on a puddle of fuel on the ground while pumping the gas. Thanks for the input.
