Default transmission

When driving my car with engine/trans cold, it does not seem to shift smoothly from 1-2, its not abrupt, but not real smooth. Once the engine/trans are at operating temp everything is fine. Is there a service recall or does anyone have a similar problem? I have 33000miles and its a 2007.

This web site is loaded with 2007 ES350 transmission problems. Mine was replaced in 12/06 with only 1,000 miles on the new car. I would suggest taking it back to a Lexus dealership and they can check the VIN to see if any transmission work was done. I hope you have a warranty still left on your car.

I have an 08 that behaves exactly the same way. It's a little annoying (especially for a Lexus) but I just assume it's a minor design flaw with the trans. It's behaved this way consistently since new. Otherwise I have had no other transmission issues such as the flares that have been discussed.

My used 07 (52.5 k km) had the 3-4 flare (so called), just gave me an occasional push in the back under slow steady acceleration. Dealer re-programmed the TCM (transmission control module), and no more problems; beautiful smooth transmission.

My vehicle is still under warranty until 100,000miles. I purchased an extended warranty for my vehicle. I am making a small list of complaints with the vehicle so I can get most of it resolved with one visit. BTW, was the new car factory warranty 3-36000miles or 4-50000miles?

Make sure to get video if the problem is intermittent. Otherwise, you will get the infamous "performing as designed" if they can't reproduce the problem. Good luck. I still don't understand the concept of having a known problem replaced for free even if it is out of warranty. For example, a window or any other part goes out at 80,500 when it should have lasted typically around 180,500. If it is a known defect in the past then I shouldn't be financially responsible for a poorly designed product whether it is in warranty or not.

You can go online at Lexus.com, type in your VIN (you have to sign in first), and see what work was done on the car at a dealership. This may show you if any tranmission work was done previously.

I logged onto the site. No trans problems, however, the following are listed:

1730miles-steering whl/main shaft
32177miles-9lh oil hose

Does anyone know what these are?

There was a recall or a service campaign, I don't recall which, for the VVTi oil hose which could break. It's a good thing your car was done. I don't know what the other item would be.
