That's ok Pete, when I saw you poke fun at yourself over the locking of the car I figured you'd at some point circle back and correct it, though i guessed wrong and thought you had looked at the drycleaner bill or something the first time.

You may not be able to get too scientific as you said because it seems plant 2 is not stand out one way or other, but the approach is certainly unique.

I can tell you this, there is at least one shift of workers at plant 2 who are very good at alignment of doors, trim etc., comparing my one build to another both built at same plant and I hope that shift or those people on that shift get(s) a huge raise.

Our nieghborhood (with 3 blocks) has four perfect ES350's.

06/06 - 08/06 - 09/06 and 11/06 all are 872's.

The labels on the inside door frames all say "U660E made in Japan". There is a lot more information on the label, if anyone cares to decipher it?? BUT, it appears these "4" transaxles were really made in Japan.

You may want to check again with all these perfect cars as the FBI check digit floats so they cannot all be 872

my 9-11 = 072. The 0 must mean the drunk assembly line that put the rattles in car.

hah! everyone go out and find the 872's!! they're the perfect ones

I wonder which numbers amf1923? has....

Yes, I think you can have lots of 872's. the 9th digit is Toyota internal purposes and for fbi crap.

Took another look at the labels this morning.

All labels are identical with the exceptions of 1) last five digits of the VIN and 2) the 3-number 1-letter combo in the lower right hand corner of the label.

The question is why did Lexus SPECIFICALLY state that the transaxle was "made in Japon" on the label? At the same time excluding other parts, like the ENGINE? One possible explanation is Patents Pending on the six speed.

If someone can decipher the label (below the barcode) it should answer many of the questions posed on this forum.
