Best Dextron III ATF
My dip stick says to use Dextron III. Are all of them the exact same? What's the best to use? My car has 104,000 miles, I don't know when it was last changed, I just bought it. It's a 97. My ATF is pretty dark and I'm worried that if I change the fluid that it will turn black really quick again. What should I do? Also, I heard that the filter you don't need to replace, would it be a good idea anyways? What's the best store to get good parts at, Napa, Checker, Red Rooster, Car Quest. Thanks

For ATF, you if you are considering synthetics, some very good ones are Mobil1, Redline, Amsoil for Dexron III compatibility. I believe the 1997 es300 has a seperate fill and drain for the differential fluid as well, you might want to change that out while your at it.
For parts, are you looking for OEM or aftermaket? There have been some previous post regarding where to buy parts, a quick search should turn up some good reading.

I dont know if I should get synthetics or not? Maybe something to help smooth out the shifting a little bit. How do you do the differential? For the filter, I just want a good quality one. thanks
