Default Temperature gauge

While driving to work today, noticed temperature gauge needle is not right in the middle, one gradient lower than middle line. This is after 35 minutes of highway driving, outside temp was 45F.

Is it ok?. What is causing this?.

That is where my temperature gauge sits. Pretty sure all Lexus I've seen show a tad lower than middle mark under normal driving conditions.

Mine sits about a half tick higher, well within a typical variance.

Mine also sits one tick below the middle. I've got a Lexus ES300 cluster swapped into my Toyota Solara.

You're only talking a few degrees here - nothing to get worried over.

The question to focus on is, is it getting up to this temperature relatively quickly? Or is it taking a big part of your drive to get there? These cars should get to temp pretty quickly.

Mine was a bit higher when my car was due for a coolant change. After that it dipped back to the level everyone has agreed on as being the standard.

As long as the time to get to that temperature is normal (a few minutes), you have nothing to worry about. Keep your fluids in check and your maintainence schedule rigid and all will be well.

Next time you replace the coolant put in a new thermostat as well, OEM only.

Thanks guys. I will check and monitor how quickly it warms up , I believe within few minutes but will confirms. Fluid levels are good. Such a beautifully engineered car, want to maintain and njoy till the end.......

Lexus2000, I was thinking the same - replacing the thermostat (OEM).

You nearly perfect so, don't worry! Slight fluctuations like yours are normal. Just watch for
