because it tends to overheat at a hot day with a/c on and doing alot of stop n go
and it is good for the transmission (at least it will extend the life of the transmission)

tranny coolers a re a good thing if the car has none installed at all
but most do have a small one like the ES does
would just be over kill
when you say the car overheats do you mean you actually see the gauge move above the 1/2 way mark?

Yes, on a very hot day with the a/c on and doing stop n go. Slightly over the mid line
I am trying to improve the air flow by doing the following
1. remove the plastic top on the radiator to increase more air from coming in the front hood grill
2. thoroughly clean the condensor to remove grease and tar
3 try to trim my license plate to make it shorter ( it quite restricts the air inflow from the bottom air duct)
4 relocate the horn more to the left .
I am planning to install a 4 x 11 x 3/4 inch stack plate( I hope this will not cause pressure drop )
to the left of the condensor using 11 ich as the height and using hard bracket instead of plastic strips

I still have room to mount a 7 amp 12 inch hayden fan to the right of the condensor if I want to. I hop the 7 extra amp will not kill my alternator.

PLease give advice

truthfully i would say you have a problem that you need to fix
my car never goes over the 1/2 mark ever
below yes ,but not above
this included hot days of 40 deg c with the ac and stop and go traffic on the 401
although i do have a 94 es it still has the 1mz-fe engine
and i have not heard of overheating unless there is a problem
the cooling system is rather good in these engines especially i feel

when is the last time you changed the coolant
and what is the ratio of water and coolant if you did it yourself?
you do have the red dex cool coolant right?
also since you do sound very knowledgeable have you done a coolant flush latley
also when it tends to show over heating how far above the 1/2 way point is the needle?

That's normal considering there is no air blowing through the radiator other than the fan. When was the last time you had a cooling system flush and had the thermostat replaced?

engine flushed and filled with no silicate long life coolant last year 60% coolant to 40% distilled water
The thermostat seem OK warm up is normal . The waterpump is OK too I quess , I have not heard any strange sound yet. I want to do this tranny cooler at least to protect the transmission.
I might do the fan later only if it overheats( I might use the hayden 7 amp or the 110 flex a lite fan ) I hope the extra amps needed by the fan will not harm my alternator.

A sign of a thermostat that is going out is if your engine is overheating easily at the wrong times. During stop and go traffic..its normal for it to go above the middle markt...but not by much. If it easily moves up during hill climbing or etc...your thermostat is about to go. They are fairly inexpensive so get it replaced when you're nearing 100k miles.

I think I might experiement the installation of a B&M type tranny cooler in line with the radiator next week.
