Default Headlight help on my 2001 ES300

Left low beam headlight went out. Bought new bulbs .HIDs, replaced old ones. Left low still won't go on. Checked fuses and even switched fuses from right side, still no light . Used old right bulb , which was still good, using gloves, and still no light. Where else can I troubleshoot? High beams on both works. Thanks

If indeed they are HID's than likely your Ballast is gone. Try interchanging the left and right Ballast to confirm.

Thanks again, changed out ballast, wasn't too bad to do so, and light works again!

How tough was it to change out the ballast? I've been told 2 things...1.Complete headlight assembly (not cheap) 2. HID module...How much in parts and how long did it take?

you talking about OEM HID headlights? cause from what it sounded like, at least to me like the OP had aftermarket HIDs which means that ballast isn't mounted inside the headlight itself.

For OEM HID headlights it requires you to remove the entire headlight itself I think the ballast is located under the bottom of the headlight.

The Denso ballast you can purchase without going to the dealer.

They are around 70 bucks on ebay.

take a look here:

808 is correct. Ballast is inside OE headlights. Just need to remove some bolts: bottom push pins on plastic shroud covering top of light, remove bottom shroud pins under affected light to give room to remove 3 bolts to light assembly. Remove headlight assembly, remove ballast. Head of ballast will not fit out of housing, just unscrew ( count your turns! ) 2 screws that have washers with teeth about six or seven full turns counterclockwise. Head will come out. Then just reverse!
