How to remove driver's side air vent outlet
For some strange reason, something is wrong with my 2001 ES300 driver's side air vent. I can adjust it left or right, so the louvers work fine, but it won't move vertically properly. I assume that its held by a pin on each side, and that one of the pins may have broken, or came out of its respective mating hole. It's weird as I hardly ever, ever even move it.
Anyways, I would like to remove it, examine the cause, and try to fix it somehow.
So my question is: How do I remove it without any risk of damaging the vent any further?
Thanks,
Phil

At least on my 2002 there is a dash piece that includes the left vent. To remove it I had to partially remove the odometer cluster because each piece overlaps eachother if you will. I am not sure how the 2001 is designed some hopefully one of them will chime in. I wouldn't try to just pop out the movable piece of the vent, because they are a larger piece with a duct attached to them.
