Hydraulic Cooling Fan Assembly
Hello. Recently my car has been overheating. My mechanic has replaced the radiator, thermostat, and is now replacing the temperature sensor. He thinks it's the hydraulic cooling fan assembly. I've been doing research on the price and it is quite high around 500-600 dollars. Does anyone know where I can get one for any cheaper if the new sensor doesn't work?? Or if anyone has an suggestions on this matter. Thank you in advance.

I agree this mechanic sounds like he's throwing parts at the problem go somewhere else. Testing the hydraulic fan is VERY simple I guess your mechanic didn't bother to look in the service manual. See this post on how to test the fans operation.

Well he tested the fan with the jumper cable and nothing happened any other ideas? Also it's good he did these things because changing the thermostat for sure helped.

Make sure the connector on the PS pump is secure and not damaged.

Does the fan turn slowly? The nature of this system is the fan is always turning even when the engine is cold. If your mechanic really thinks it's the fan then source a used one. BTW if the connector is removed from the sensor on the thermostat housing the fan should run at full speed. There is a control module on the right side of the car under the dash but I highly doubt that has failed although possible.
Which sensor?
Which sensor?
