Default ES330 electrical problem

I have a 2005 ES330 ~100k. On a way home last Sunday, all the light from the NAV panel went dark, then as soon as I got into the driveway, the odometer panel also went dark. I turned off the engine, and couldn't restart it. The next day, I couldn't start a car. Should I go get a new battery? tow to the dealer? How much do you think that it would cost to fix this problem? Many thanks for you answer/suggestion?

If you are handy, replace the battery, then drive to an auto parts store (if within 20 miles and during the daytime) and have your alternator tested. I bet it has issues so plan on changing it too. It can be changed in the parking lot with a few tools and you can have them charge the battery while you replace the alternator.

thats freaky .... thank god it did not go out on you while driving 75mph on a highway at night!!!!

check www.yelp.com for a decent mechanic with good reviews in your area and give them a call. Do not go to the dealer, unless it is your last option.

I guess I should have mentioned that it sounded like you had lost the alternator and as you drove on the battery slowly died and each electrical system failed one at a time as the voltage got lower and lower.
