Default Car won't start after resting

2000 Lexus ES300 136,000 miles. After resting for 2 to 3 days, I try to start the car, but it cranks and won't start. Sounds like its not getting fuel. If I turn the key to the on position and leave it for 10 to 15 seconds it starts. After that its fine. My charging system is working properly. Any suggestions?

Fuel pressure is bleeding down. Most likely item is the fuel pump, there is a check valve in there that holds pressure and when it goes out you get this exact issue.

I don't think so. He said the car cranks, but won't start. If the fuel pressure was low, the car would start after two-three seconds of cranking. I have a fuel pressure issue, but it's not the pump, I believe the fuel injectors are leaking, because the pump has been replaced.

Also, contrary to popular belief, putting the key in the ON position does not prime the fuel pump in the ES. It does in most cars, but not in this one. The fuel pump is only activated while cranking, so that's why I'm confused by his solution to this problem.

I think your best bet would be to hook up a fuel pressure gauge and see what numbers you're getting while sitting, cranking, and running.

Hook up a fuel pressure meter to the system. After shutdown wait for at least 30-45 minutes to see what the pressure bleeds down to. After that, do the same thing again but pinch off the fuel line from the pump and see what happens. If pressure still bleeds down then it's most likely a leaking injector. If it doesn't bleed down then the problem is the fuel pump.

It's weird, this just started happening about 3 weeks ago. If I drive the car everyday, it's fine no issues. If I leave it for say a weekend and try to start it on Monday, it won't start.

i agree with ***** on this one...and mdbrown gave u a good way to find out.
it could be something as simple as an injector o-ring. go in the bay and sniff for gassy smell when u leave it for the weekend.

I got the fuel filter changed. Don't know if this could be part of the problem but it cant hurt it.
