I'm late on this discussion but I just got back from a long road trip from New York to Toronto and back and like to throw down

So my first tank was 75% hardcore city driving and 25% highway and I got 24 mpg. The next tank I used fuel injector cleaner (the pour in the tank kind) and was 80% highway 20% fast moving city driving and I got 28 mpg.

The last tank I used I only got 3/4 the way finished because I finished my trip but by the halfway mark on the fuel gauge I was at 318 miles! This was ALL highway and smooth running at that (about 70mph/avg). Some hills, which I agree totally destroys fuel economy.

Bear in mind that I have a JDM engine swapped in that only has 40,000 miles on it and internally looks new.

I also tried both 29.5psi and 40psi and I think the latter is definitely too high. Ride is harsh and no real fuel economy gained.

One last tip. Use fuel injector cleaner for your first tank of a long trip and make sure your spark plugs are in really good shape. Under the right conditions, this engine goes way over 30... (i stress ideal). Good luck!

I get 18mpg with 80-85% highway with AC. I get around 19 with AC off.
Plugs 3 years old (iridium) with 30k miles on them, fuel and air filter changed every other oil change. Seafoam done at least once a year, fuel system cleaner 4x a year.

Timing belt recently done.

Heck i got better mpg out of my old low 12 second GTP. I could get 400 out of a 18gal tank. Im luck to get 300 and that is pushing it with low light on for 2 days. Most time i fill up when light comes on and im sitting at 260.

30mpg out of a 1MZ is not that hard. 18-19mpg is not very good, something is wrong there. I get better mileage in my 26 year old truck with a tired 22RE.

Jeez, take your foot off the right pedal and move it to the dead pedal a bit. Might help the mpg!

Something is seriously wrong, unless you're heavy footed. I average 24-25 on the highway with big heavy wheels and sticky tires.
