My car feels unstable past 60mph....(Help)
Ok, ive heard of others having this problem. If I go below 60mph or faster then 70mph, my car rides like an angel! Between 60-70mph my car vibrates!!! I had 17s on at the time. I had them balanced and it still did it. I had them rotated and it still did it. I changed to brand new 18in wheels/tires and it STILL DOES IT?? What the heck?!?!? What could be causing this?? Please post some suggestions people!!!!!!

Alignment?? Hmm, I thought the way to tell that you need an alighment is if your car pulls to one way if your hands arent gripped on the wheel. So you really think an alignment would help....

The alignment would be the first step, if you're gonna lower the car soon wait until that's done because you need an alignment after lowering anyway. Since it did the same thing with different sets of wheels, something with the car itself is a little more likely. Are the wheels hubcentric or do you have centering rings on the wheels? If they're not one or the other of those, that is a potential cause of this problem as well. If you can't find anything with the car itself or the centering rings, have the wheels and tires inspected for any irregularities. If there's no problems there, find out what machine was used to balance the wheels, look for someplace with a Hunter, do a search on "Hunter" in the wheels forum for more info on their specific models and which one to ask for, but they're balancing machines are probably "the" elite units. The other option would be a balancing on the car, but if you do that you lose the ability to rotate the tires since they're balanced for that specific position on the car, but that's probably better than what you're experiencing right now.
Hope you find the solution, this would be a very aggravating problem since alot of driving is done between 60 and 70. I think this is a fairly common problem with the GS, the steering setup is very sensitive on those. A search in the wheels forum for vibration should bring up alot of threads about this with more detailed info on possible solutions.

If your tires pass as balanced then possibly look at driveshaft angle and driveshaft balancing. Imbalance here has been known to set up rpm induced virbartions, also.
Have you accidentially hit any pot-holes lately. In Boston we have tons of them and they throw any number of things out of whack. End result = not a smooth vibration.
