Replace Oil Pan ES300
1997 ES300
I ran over a rock and put a hole in my oil pan. Is this a difficult job to replace the oil pan meaning is it a matter of removing bolts and replacing the part or is there numerous other components that also need to be removed to access the oil pan (if so which ones?). I live out in the country so being able to do it myself would save me a lot as towing charges from where I live are ridiculous. Thanks for any help.

To remove the pan:
- 10 bolts and 2 nuts
- a blade to cut and pry the old pan out
To clean the pan mating surface:
- a blade or something to remove the old sealant
- brake cleaner
To install the pan:
- copper high temperature RTV or Toyota FIPG packing material
Use JACK STANDS!!!!

I ran over a concrete parking pillar with a piece of rebar protruding from it about 4 "...Thank you Dollar General Stores for that chunk of stuff concrete in the middle of the parking lot...anyway, It ruptured my oil pan and just frankly made my day...But I have read your post on how to R and R the pan and it sounds simple enough for me to do....I don't know..anyone who would run over a chunk of concrete rebar in broad daylight may need it to be a little more simplified..anyway it was helpful to read your post...Is there any surprises in store for me..like having to remove the exhaust pipe or other stuff also or do ya think it will be as easy as replacing the transmission pan gasket which I have done with no problem...Please post any helpful advice..I'll be looking for it....Oh did I mention that it snowed today and is 5 degrees with a nice wind chill to top it off for this little "Here's ya somen' to do Gary, problem". God I love life...94 lexus es300....and a broke owner...Thanks

It's really not that hard. I made a YouTube video when I resealed the oil pan on my Friend's 1995 ES300. Nothing is really in the way of dropping it down and replacing it. Here's the video:
