Lights, Camera, but no Action!
1. Car did not start... Brand new Battery + alternator is charging battery at 13-14 volts, terminals also fine, interior lights dim/dead.
2. Jumped car... Brand new jumper cables, tried starting car, ticking noise lasts 10 mins every time i turn key, then it turned over. Car started and drove for hour, battery fully charged!
3. Next morning tried starting car... Battery dead, no lights, automatically assumed lights must have been left on or there is a drain.
4. Jumped car again (with friend)... Got in car, noticed lights dead = battery dead. Friend connects his car to mine through jumper cables. 2 mins goes by, cables begin to smoke, plastic/rubber on cables melt, cables start on fire. Friend removes cable, fire under control. I did not notice it but I assumed he put cables on backwards. P 2 N N 2 P?
5. Next morning tried jumping it again... Used portable jump start this time. Attach red to red, black to black, lights on car turn on, FULL POWER, go to turn key, nothing, no ticking, no movement, but lights still on FULL POWER, but no starter click or tick.
6. Went to club lexus forums to ask if anyone knows what the @$%# is going on with my car. Could my friend have fried my computer? Does connecting battery cables backwards cause smoking/frying? I dont know what to do exactly... My mecanic a few days ago said the drain was a door sensor that when wet fails to turn off dash light (The one that displays the time and temperature). That dosnt turn off unless i slam door HARD! Before it was at least ticking when I would start it. Now the lights turn on but when I turn the key nothing happens, what could it be?

Sound to me like your grounding out somewhere with a 'hot' wire... OR your altenator... BUT if your battery is charged at nite and when you wake up in the morning and its dead, your grounding out somewhere like couple of wires burned and fused together... BUT im not ASE certified, just a shade tree mechanic so i could be wrong.
