Transmission issues what to do?
Well heres the deal I spent 2100.00 back in december of 2005 for a rebuilt transmission and after 9 months ( 9/2006) the transmission started slipping in reverse. At the time it was still under warranty and I was told that it was a solenoid that was faulty so they replaced it and it was working fine, that was until about late may of this year, i noticed that when i take the car on long trips, or in constant stop and go traffic, the transmission would start to kick after idle. So I would be driving, come to a stop light, and be able to take my foot off the brake and the car would just idle and not move forward, then when i would accelerate, the car would kick hard. After leaving the car too cool overnight this would go away, but would return after heating up. I took it back to the transmission spot with my mechanic and they said they would look at it the following week, well 2 months went by and they would not return my phone calls, finally after calling up furious they said bring it in, they tried to increase the line pressure, they tell me see how this works and call back, its still doing the same thing, now i call back and the guy tells me yea so your going to need another rebuild its going to cost you 1800!!!!!!! 3900 in a year and 9 months for a tranny!!!!!! I Hung up on him and immediately reported them to the better business bureau. When the car was given back to me on 12/15/2005 the card had 95,000 miles on it, now it has 132,000 miles, when i initially brought it in the second time it had about 128 thousand miles. A transmission going after 33,000 miles!!!!!!!!! And two MAJOR Problems within 1 years time?! Thats ridiculous. Is there anything else I can do its VERY frustrating any help will be greatly appreciated.

What was the warranty stated (and written) when the rebuilt tranny was first put in? if this shop is baulking at not covering this under warranty (if that's the case), then take'em to small claims court. Once you "win", find a different shop to care of your car. Preferably a reputable one.

they gave a 1 year unlimited mile warranty, which effective 12/15/2006 it is no longer under that warranty BUT, this was a pre-existing problem, i had this issue before the warranty was up going in reverse, they fixed it, then 9 months later its doing the same thing in drive.

It might be time to contact a lawyer to see if you have a claim against the transmission shop. Moral of the story- It's always best to get a used transmission vs. a rebuilt one unless it's straight from Toyota.

It IS time to contact an attorney, and there's no question that you have a claim against them.
The jacka$$ at the tranny shop might be betting that you'll be too lazy to get one, or that it'll cost you more than $1800 to hire one. That's likely not the case. The only way you're going to get this swindler's attention is with representation. Nine times out of ten, in the experiences that I've read online and heard in person, the shops suddenly become quite amenable when they find out you mean business and you're willing to bring in the big bats.

don't waste your time with an attorney. First off, it's small claims and lawyer will not do much if any good and second it's not worth your time and you'll most likely not win. Since it was not taken back in the warranty window you really have no leg to stand on. The transmission is only guaranteed for one year after that you're on your own. That piece of mind was only good for one year.
Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, just telling it like it is and what I've seen and experienced. My dad (owner of reputable repair shop) tried to sue a transmission shop for a transmission that would not function under warranty and was unsuccessful. It is a little bit harder to sue automotive repair facilities than people think.
