ES300 Transmission Doesn't go into gear
Hey guys,
For the last year My '95 ES300 has been having transmission issues. On cold days it takes a few minutes for drive to engage. Up until now it has been just an annoyance. But now it is spring/summer in Florida and the tranny is acting up whenever. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to go into reverse, sometimes just drive. What's the deal? Am I looking at a new tranny or is this an issue that won't empty my wallet.
Also, we just had a tranny service to make sure that wasn't the issue. It didn't seem to do much.
Any help is much appreciated

If it's taking a long time to get into gear, or it never gets out of first or along those lines than your most likely going to need a new or re-conditioned transmission. It could be the pressure plates, the lines could be screwed up, could be the clutches slipping, or the torque converter. Without actually seeing the transmission, it's very hard to know. A re-conditioning would be the best idea.

It hasn't ever really had an issue getting out of first gear. That is what is so confusing. I've searched this to death and it seams like the majority of people have that issue. i haven't seen threads with the same issue I'm having.

Well if it's taking a long time to change gear, and go into a gear such as reverse or drive, than its iminent that it will get worse. Something is wearing away in there, and a transmission service does not mean that the parts are checked correctly. I'd get it checked out at a mechanic, pay a couple hundred bucks for them to re-condition is before it gets worse where you loose all power in almost all gears.

It's more than likely the pump in the transmission... It's directly behind the torque convertor... It can be replaced however if there has been a problem for some time other parts may be affected... clutches, bearings, bushings and other hard parts... The first thing I would do is remove the tranny pan and look for clutch material and metalic debris if there is excessive material in the pan you may need a rebuild...
