End of an Era, II
I noticed Lexusk8's "End of An Era" thread had been, bumped, so I had to add a Roman numeral II to mine.
Earlier this week I traded in my black 96 ES, with about 116K miles. It was coming up on needing the 120K service, and probably due for all new suspension components.
With the E90 3-Series on the horizon, I was able to get a very good lease deal on a new, silver/black 2005 325i. I was particularly pleased by the maintenance being included in the lease, and some of the options I was able to get (Bluetooth, integrated iPod connectivity). Unfortunately, nothing in the current Lexus lineup on the car side (within my price range--I wouldn't have turned down a silver/saddle SC430 ) appeals to me, and I didn't want an SUV right now (I had been entertaining thoughts of an RX330 after having one for a loaner a couple months ago). The other car I had been considering was the Audi A4 (I actually like the new "Auto Union" -style grille on the '05), but I remembered how pleased I was with my 318i, other than the lack of power from the 1.8L 4 )
If the new IS250 were already out, I may well have picked that over the 3. The new IS will be a very worthy competitor to the upcoming E90 3 series.

Thanks, guys I still visit the ES forum every time I'm on my home computer--it's still a proud bookmark at the top of my browser (not to mention CL's Car Chat is by far the best auto-industry board I've seen. That and the wonderful forums like Lighting and Detailing that apply to all makes of car). I've learned a lot from these boards, and I'm always more than happy to lend an answer when it's a topic I'm familar with.
