Default Ran 1/4 Mile tonight in my 98 Sc400

Went to Texas Motorplex in ennis to watch some friends and decided to run it for fun. Wasn't thinking and filled up before getting to the track so race weight with me in the car was 3885lbs. I weigh 160lbs. I ran the car 3 times and seem to average the same 14.8 @ 95mph in the 1/4. It was a 9.5 in the 1/8. Raced a all wheel drive turbo eclipse he ran a 15.3 against me. I also got whipped by a LS1 firebird he ran 12.2 and the last race was against a yellow 2004 Audi S4 6speed he rana 13.999. All in all it was fun I think with a 1/4 tank of gas would have ran some 14.7's but I am happy I still need to do a tune up on the car but. I am sure with the stock light weight 16" wheels and less rotating mass would help too but I am not making it a race car just a fun daily driver. Will post my dyno #'s after I get a chance to play with it this week. Someone filmed my runs at the track if I get the video I will post it

Pretty impressive . The best I ran in the 1/4 is a 14.86 @ 94 so far (remember 184k miles, a 180lb passenger, and a little over 1/2 tank of gas....no true duals). Man I love a Lexus !!! Maybe you and I can persuade a company to build us some type of FI setup for us. It kinda sux when only about 3000 of our last generation SC400's were made. With some FI the S4 will not stand a chance. Perhaps the Firebird will be eaten up as well. I will try to run my car another time and post some #'s after my exhaust mod.

Excellent

Great to see someone going to the track.

Also great to see you weighed the car... that is good information. My LS400 was 3950 with me in it (no rear mufflers, 1/4 tank, no spare/jack/junk).

In 80 degree heat I am around 14.6 @ 96mph.

Check the sig for best numbers.

You should also make a post in the racing section... should get more response to drag racing there

Man!! That's haulin for an almost 4000lb car (w/you in it). Very impressive Jbrady as usual !! Good luck with your car. It was around 80-85 degrees in Alabama (very humid) when I ran my car as well. If you find anything crazy (performance-wise) we can do to our cars, let us know.

Yeah I am in Texas where it is humid as hell and in the 80's also. Almost forgot I did have my spare and and all the other junk out of my car when I wieghed and raced it only made the mistake of filling it up with gas right before the track. Next time out would like to throw the stock 16" wheels back on because the car feels much slower with the 18" wheels which are more than double the wieght each of the stock ones. And I think a little tire spin off the line might help vs the bogging that my car seems to do now.

Thanks live it definitely surprised many people. After one race against a Dodge Dakota 5.9 R/T the owner came over in the pits... thought I had a supercharger or nitrous couldn't believe I was "stock"

98Lex, my car does not tolerate wheelspin at the track. With an open differential the engine torque goes to both tires as LONG as you have traction. Once traction is lost... ie wheelspin... all the torque goes to the tire without traction. On my car (should be the same for all 98+ VVTi engines with electric throttles) once the tire starts to spin is spins HARD and the computer is too slow to allow me to balance the spin with the throttle. I have to completely let off... wait for the tire to regain traction... and then hit it again... and by then of course the run is shot.

One of these days I will get off my rear and do my exhaust. The main thing holding me back is time as I do NOT want to cut my stock parts and will actually start with flanges at the catalyst outlets. I want to test both a 2.5 and 3.0 center pipe as well as test the stock mufflers and aftermarket. I also want to try resonators because I want a high flow system that keeps the low end torque AND is quiet. Lots of R&D. Ideally with before and after dyno testing and track testing... whew... and I already have all the parts
