USB Flash Drive Support Specs
Hi There,
Newbie here, just picked up my CT200h yesterday and am trying to figure out how the stereo wants a flash drive written.
The car is a late 2011 UK car SE-i with the sat-nav option fitted.
Head unit is CD changer, rather than DVD.
It accesses folders off MP3 CDs no problem.
I have tried a 1Gb and a 16Gb flash drives which is all I have to hand.
I have tried formatting the drives as FAT16 and FAT32 for the 1G, and obviously FAT32 for the 16Gb.
Results seem quite variable. Some folders it won't read. Sometimes it says the USB player is not recognised, even after it's played something.
It seems a bit happier if I put the folders on the drives with a PC rather than my Mac.
Does anyone have some definitive info on what size of drive is best (or maximum) and what is the best (most compatible) file system and file type.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks
Ian

Thanks for that.
I have experimented a bit more, and still not completely happy.
Have ended up sticking an old 30g Ipod in the armrest which works much better.
Pity the same can't be said for the bluetooth to phone connection which drops more often than a poor juggler!

I just ordered this 32GB flash drive. it's so short that it should fit into the USB port and allow the door cover to close. I'll post back when I get it as to how it worked.

Awesome! I like how just a few years ago getting a car with a 40 GB hard drive for music storage was a several hundred dollar upgrade. Now I can do the same thing for $20. LOL

Just got a 32 gig sandisk ultra short USB on Amazon for$20. Works and sounds great. Door closes and should be able to load tons of mp3s. I have a different file for each artist but if you label a file and just drag mp3s into it this will become a playlist when you open the file. I have a 2012 with navi and the screen shows everything. Sweet
