Steelers6: I believe the linked owners manual picture is for the USA --- not ROW. Having lived in many countries -- I know that things are not the same in other parts of the world. In some cases the oils available are different and in other cases the engines are slightly different to compensate for heat/ cold or even increased dust.
I'm not saying this is the case here ..... one never knows .... It always best to check locally for the proper recommendation.

This. The oil is designed for a wide range of operating conditions and temps. It also just happens to be a VERY good and top tier oil with the right additive pkg for our vehicles.

Always keep in mind that oil recommendations are predicated on the submission to the EPA -- manufacturers want the best MPG posted on the window sticker. They can't test and certify with one oil and then have another as recommended -- they have to match. ROW does not have this limitation -- this can create a difference.
In the USA the Toyota oil is competitively priced .... Remember .... the CT is a Prius powertrain ... it's not stressed or a high performance engine.

As long as you're using the correct weight and your oil change interval is kept up, you'll be fine with whatever brand you use. 0W-20 will be fine and there is no need to change that, even if you live in hotter climate. There are Prius that are being used as taxis in hot climate without issues.

1. It's a Prius -- It's not a turbo 911. And even a turbo 911 is fine with the recommend oil. People think they need to get some "special oil" .. it;s especially not true with a Prius.
2. I have been surprised to see recommendations slightly different in ROW cars -- it's not uncommon to see higher hot weight numbers in hot climate vs USA.

It's a good thing that you aren't paying for my oil changes. My CT takes 4.5 quarts of oil and my GX takes 8 quarts of oil. In my opinion oil and oil filter should be changed every 5K miles.

Nothing wrong with your OCI. That said, Toyota doesn't agree with you and 10k mile OCI's are approved by them, Synthetics are proven to still have robust additive packages that are still going strong at 10k miles. I've had my oil analyzed by Blackstone with 10k miles on it and the results were that I could go another 2k miles minimum. I meet them halfway with 7-8k mile changes. BMW, MB, and others have 15-20k mile OCI's but still recommend changing out the filter sooner.
