Depending on where you go the chp usually takes care of the ticket for free.

I just recently went to a local police station. They all do it for free I believe. It's the court you have pay, for me it was $10

I've gotten at least 10 tint tickets. Here's my process.
  1. Go to tint shop and have tint violations removed.
  2. Go to CHP office and get it signed off
  3. Go back to tint shop and have tint re-applied
  4. Mail in payment for fix it ticket.
  5. Done.

It may take 2-3 hours to get it all done, but it's nothing to sweat one bit. I'll keep getting the windshield tinted because it helps my eyes at night. The glare from oncoming headlights and HID's not in projector housings blinds me. I've tried prescription anti-glare glasses and they don't do crap for me. Tinting the windshield fixed it.

Edit: 5% on windshield LOL

I got two so far. Here's my process, it's a bit different.
Instead of paying to install/reinstall the tint, I bought two pieces of glass from a junkyard for $200. Good thing IS-F shares the glass with is250/is350s!

remove two front tinted door glass
replace with un-tinted set of glass
drive to nearest CHP office to get ticket signed off
reinstall tinted set of glass
Mail in ticket + $25 check
wait for next tint ticket

should mention that I don't smoke, but when I see cops, I roll down my windows. At night, I pretend to smoke so it doesn't look odd my windows are open at night.

5% thats thug! Much Props! As any tint would be bad but 5% would be pretty clearly noticeable if you were to be in a nite time collision, seems scary!

5% is insane for a windshield! you must have real sensitive eyes. i wonder if you can get a doctor's note as a justification to show the cop the next time you get pulled over, as you know there will be a next time!

At night, seeing at the front is as clear as day. The side windows however can be hard to see out of.

I tried to get a doctor's note, but according to my doctor AND a couple police friends I have, windshield tint is illegal no matter what. Doctor's can't sign off on it. Only front side windows.
