Hardwire of the Escort 9500IX with custom light and mute button
So I got bored today and did a custom hard wire on the Escort. Pics didnt come out so good as the battery was dead on the camera and it was dark. The blue light is on to show the radar is powered and working, it flashes when radar is detected. The light is VERY bright so I have to figure out how to dim it some. At night its blinding Pretty cool

^ I am sick, but been stuck in the house for days now so it was a nice break and breath of cold air I am sure I will regret it tomorrow but more reason to stay in bed and watch some movies
V1 is a great radar. Vik got me to get this Escort and I will tell you the red light cameras are popping up everywhere and this has saved me a few times. I do miss the arrows but I am going to hang on to this for some time and see how it holds up. Plan to do some road trips come spring with the family so I can use it with her car. At lease I dont have to take it up and down anymore with it mounted where its at. Need to tint the windows so you cant see in
I need to add a resistor or something to the line with the light as its blindingly bright at night time straight at you. Daytime I am sure it will be good and bright and I like that. Maybe a dimmer from Radio Shack?
Need to finish the install of the Vias for the ipod as I just have it sitting on the passenger seat. Not sure where to mount it? Hope to get all this stuff on the car in the next week here: front lip, side mirrors, finish front lights, spacers....then that is it till spring and I can find some summer rims/tires.

How have you been slipping all this stuff past the wifey? You better not be blaming me for it! You can only blame me for wheels if anything.

nah They have been in the garage for some time and just been lazzzy with this cold weather. I think I am going to install the intake this week and see how the car runs. I already did the DRL and HID fogs and looks much better. I need to order the wedge bulbs and the 6k replacements are on their way. Those are easy to do so not really much of a mod. I am more excited to get the Front Lip and Side Signal covers on and Wheels for the summer to see how it comes together. Not sure what to do for the sides and the rear for a kit. I just cant wait for the weather to break and enjoy the car in the warmer months. I had enough of the snow/ice

you sure about this
to the best of knowledge they dont offer this yet? If they do I am not aware of this and wish I had purchased the new V1. But either way I am sticking with this since I installed this light and mute button. I need a new center piece as it looks terrible from age. I think I may move the button also.
Yea let me know what you think I can get from RS. I think the best may be to get a dimmer so I can turn it down at night and keep it bright during the day I like to see it rather then hear it IMO. Maybe this weekend we can do it and slap the spacers on? Then we can go work out like I promised you

You're welcome in advance for dredging up such an old thread!! :-)
I have a 9500ix with the Smart Cord display and was wondering how you wired the mute button. I assume it's a momentary switch? Did you just solder two wires onto the back of the circuit board where the button is attached?
Tony
