Alleged brochure for new Toyota Supra surfaces
(Three) powertrains are said to be sourced from BMW and include turbocharged 2.0- and 3.0-liter units. The 2.0-liter is said to offer outputs of 192 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque and 252 hp and 295 lb-ft, while the 3.0-liter is said to output 340 hp and 332 lb-ft. The numbers for the 2.0-liter engine match outputs of current BMW models, though the same can’t be said for the numbers of the 3.0-liter engine.
The text also reveals that the new Supra will have a length of 172 inches, a width of 72 in and a height of 50 in. That would make it slightly longer and wider than the Toyota 86 but with a similar height. We also learn that depending on the powertrain the weight will vary between 2,976 and 3,152 pounds, and that buyers will have the choice of 18- or 19-in wheels.

^^ Unfortunately that "Supra MKV" brochure is a fake. Sorry all:

However that info on the A8R-FTS liquid to air intercooler design is interesting. Toyota last did that on a the ST185 and ST205 Celica GT-Four 2.0L turbo rally cars, IIRC.
The integrated 4-2-1 exhaust manifold might be promising but will require a very specific turbo mounting adapter or special turbo exhaust housings with an aftermarket single. At first I wasn't thrilled about any manufacturer integrating the exhaust manifolds inside of cylinder heads but once I read about GM's 464hp LF4 V6-TT used in the ATS-V Coupe I was no longer concerned as it doesn't seem to be a hold back for power.
The question is, though, will Toyota actually use the A8R-FTS in a much higher state of tune in the Supra? Will that engine possibly get a hybrid system like KERS integrated? Or will Toyota instead use a variant of their new 943F twin turbo 3.0L V6 engine that will be used in the 2019 LS sedan and some of the Lexus models with automatics? That V6 is rumored to put out over 400hp and 300 ft-lbs in at least one standard state of tune. That last one has been rumored since July of last year.
^^ I like the S-FR concept myself. Aside from the 86/BRZ I like it even more as a similar basic fun daily commuter coupe. It will be interesting to see how the smaller model and 86 compare as fun driver-centric daily cars.

Pretty weak powertrain lineup even thought the brochure is fake. The 4cylinder option should not exist, especially in this level of car. Save it for the next GT86. The Supra should be pushing closer to 400hp to give it some street cred. Otherwise it will be panned as underpowered and a poor value relative to other "performance cars" like Mustangs and Cameros of the world.

Yep, that's what I posted. In short (as I do not intend to take this thread further OT), I think Ferrari's marketing as well as statements from executives (which has occasionally contradicted the marketing) has vividly demonstrated this over the years.

The return of the MR2 would be great! A turbo version would be better. It's time Toyota start adding more sport cars to their line ups and bring back some of their old customers.

Glad those brochures and power levels are fake, I hope. It would be a hugely disappointing car if they were true and would be dead in the water, it would not even really be able to compete with modern muscle cars despite being more expensive and would certainly not be a Corvette/911 competitor like the last one was. There should be no 4 cylinder in the new Supra, that is just sad if there is. It would also be really sad that after 20 years it will only have 20hp more then the last one when it comes to the 6 cylinder. I remember rumors and sketches of a Supra replacement in the late 90's suggesting it would get a 4 liter V8, they called it the GT400 or GT500.
I think the base Supra should get a 350-370hp turbo 6 cylinder standard and the top line Supra should have around 475-500hp, it should have more hp then a base Corvette. A special model to go right after the GTR could have 550hp. Leave the weak 4 cylinder and sub 300hp to the 86 GTS.

Doubt the TTV6 from the LS will make it in there. Lexus doesnt allow their higher end engines to be used in Toyota cars. It shall be handed down in 10yrs like the DI 3.5 V6

Yes the Tundra use a bigger version and the GX use the 4.6L as well, but its missing a lot of the tech from it. The 5.6 should be producing gobs more power and certainly better efficiency if it has the tech from the LS 4.6

I would prefer a Toyota engine. A 3L TTV6 at 400hp will be suffice, even though it will be close to what the LS offers power wise, at least they can claim the 3.5TT has waaay more torque or just up the tune in 3yrs.
