Looks like chevy has an answer for the m4

Most importantly the typical BMW buyer isn't really cross shopping at a Chevy dealership for the Camaro. He is looking at an AMG, FSport, R, V model to comparison shop.
Mustang, Genisis coupe, 370z, STI, etc would I believe but not the other buyers

oh no doubt, the whole point was you don't need to spend M4 money to get excellent performance.

I think the cars being compared in this thread are actually two completely different animals. I mean, all the m4 and 'Maro generally share in common is that it is geared toward an enthusiast (or lack there of) that enjoys a "Performance" car. Performance to each person of course is subjective..
Personally, I like both cars, but still would not get either for the price range. For 37k (Base), I would get something else. For the price of the M4, or even M4 GTS, there are even greater cars at that price also (to me). Not taking anything away from either cars, just not my cup of tea!

After Motor Trend named the all-new Camaro our 2016 Car of the Year, Angus Mackenzie wrote an article entitled “Revelation” in which he said that the Camaro SS was a better driver’s car than the then new BMW 340i. Thing is, Jason Cammisa and Jonny Lieberman have both driven the 340i, and they felt that being better than said Bimmer isn’t much of an accomplishment. Being better than the much-ballyhooed M4 on the other hand, well, that would be something. After all, the M4 is the car that all other companies look to when trying to figure out how to break into the luxury performance game. But does a Camaro – any Camaro – no matter how sweet it drives really have a shot at knocking the German king off its throne?
