Toyota's February is Busy
Quite the month for Toyota....
1. A week out of service domestically due to Steel Shortages
2. Termination of the Scion brand.
I'm quite sad about the Scion brand as we owned a tC and loved the dang thing. Whats even more sad is they are rebadging ALL of them except the tC.
As for the steel shortage, yikes. There was discussion a while back that Toyota needed to consider surplus materials as compared to their current method, which is more like "parts on demand". My 4R squeaked through with a 2/1 build, but I was told that they are already cutting back on build numbers this week. So if any of you have a NX with a build date soon, hope you make the cut. I had a used 2014 GX on the back burner in case the 4R was delayed.
Thoughts?

it apparently doesn't affect toyota plants outside of japan.

well, this seems to have been caused by a harder to plan for event, namely an explosion in the Japanese steel supplier plant.

Now apparently that was not enough or maybe 7 day shortage was not enough to get others into it. Toyota plans to recover the production by March 31st so it should not be more than 7 days.

Simple fact is we try to keep CL well organized and have a ''home' for everything. Car chat is the clear place for this type of topic. Glad to discuss this further in PM if you like, let's let the thread get back on topic.
