Default Ford Mustang, F-150, Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator recalled

The 2016 Recall Thread-2012-ford-mustang.jpg

FORD MOTOR COMPANY ISSUES THREE SAFETY RECALLS AND TWO SAFETY COMPLIANCE RECALLS IN NORTH AMERICA

DEARBORN, Mich., April 27, 2016 – Ford Motor Company is issuing three safety recalls and two safety compliance recalls in North America. Details are as follows:

Ford issues safety recall and customer satisfaction program for certain 2011-2012 Ford F-150, and 2012 Ford Expedition, Ford Mustang and Lincoln Navigator vehicles in North America to update powertrain control module software and inspect for certain diagnostic trouble codes

Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 202,000 2011-2012 Ford F-150, and 2012 Ford Expedition, Ford Mustang and Lincoln Navigator vehicles for a potential issue with the output speed sensor on the vehicle's transmission lead frame. Under certain conditions, the transmission controls could force a temporary downshift into first gear. Depending on the speed of the vehicle at the time of the downshift, the driver could experience an abrupt speed reduction that could cause the rear tires to slide or lock up. This condition could result in loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford is aware of three reports of accidents and no injuries related to this condition.

Affected vehicles are equipped with a 6R80 transmission and include certain 2011-2012 Ford F-150 vehicles built at Dearborn Truck Plant and Kansas City Assembly Plant, Aug. 19, 2011 through March 9, 2012; 2012 Ford Expedition vehicles built at Kentucky Truck Plant, Aug. 19, 2011 through Dec. 19, 2011; Ford Mustang vehicles built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant, Aug. 19, 2011 through Feb. 21, 2012; and Lincoln Navigator vehicles built at Kentucky Truck Plant, Aug. 19, 2011 through Dec. 17, 2011. There are 201,900 vehicles affected, including 184,000 in the United States and federalized territories and 17,900 in Canada.

Dealers will inspect the powertrain control module for diagnostic trouble codes tied to the issue. If no related diagnostic trouble codes are present, dealers will update the powertrain control module software, which will eliminate the downshift into first gear if an OSS fault occurs. Additionally, as part of the corresponding customer satisfaction program, Ford will provide a one-time replacement of the lead frame at no charge within 10 years or 150,000 miles from the warranty start date.

If related diagnostic trouble codes are present, dealers will update the powertrain control module software and replace the lead frame at no cost to the customer.

Ford issues safety recall for certain 2014-2015 Ford Explorer and Ford Police Interceptor Utility vehicles to replace rear suspension toe links

Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 81,000 2014-2015 Ford Explorer and Ford Police Interceptor Utility vehicles to replace rear suspension toe links. In certain vehicles, it is possible that the left and right rear suspension toe links could fracture due to poor weld quality. This condition could result in rear suspension noise, difficulty steering or loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford is aware of one accident and one injury related to this issue.

Affected vehicles include certain 2014-2015 Ford Explorer vehicles built at Chicago Assembly Plant, Jan. 17, 2014 through May 31, 2014 and Ford Police Interceptor Utility vehicles built at Chicago Assembly Plant, Jan. 21, 2014 through May 13, 2014. There are 81,036 vehicles affected by the issue, including 75,364 in the United States and federalized territories, 4,615 in Canada and 1,057 in Mexico.

Dealers will replace the left and right rear suspension toe links and align the rear suspension at no cost to the customer.

Ford issues safety recall for certain 2016 Ford F-Series Super Duty vehicles to inspect and replace tires

Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 2,600 2016 Ford F-Series Super Duty vehicles to inspect and replace tires as needed. In certain vehicles, tires could have been damaged from a conveyor during assembly. In some cases, the sidewall damage could cause a rupture during use, resulting in rapid air loss and increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford is not aware of any accidents, injuries or fires related to this condition.

Affected vehicles include certain 2016 Ford F-Series Super Duty vehicles built at Kentucky Truck Plant, April 5, 2016 through April 10, 2016. There are 2,596 vehicles affected by this issue, including 2,288 in the United States and federalized territories, 271 in Canada and 37 in Mexico.

Dealers will inspect the tires for inboard sidewall damage and replace as needed at no cost to the customer.

Ford issues safety compliance recall for certain 2007-2012 Ford Flex, Ford Taurus, Lincoln MKS and Mercury Sable vehicles to replace driver airbag module

Ford is issuing a safety compliance recall for approximately 200 2007-2012 Ford Flex, Ford Taurus, Lincoln MKS and Mercury Sable vehicles to replace the driver airbag module. In certain vehicles, the chemical enhancer for the second-stage airbag deployment could be missing from the module, which may increase the risk of an injury in a crash that requires second-stage deployment. This condition does not affect primary-stage airbag deployment. This issue is unrelated to the Takata airbag inflator safety recall.

Ford is not aware of any accidents, injuries or fires related to this condition.

Affected vehicles include 199 vehicles in North America, built at Chicago Assembly Plant and Oakville Assembly, Dec. 13, 2007 through Oct. 6, 2011.

Dealers will replace the driver airbag module at no cost to the customer.

Ford issues safety compliance recall for certain 2016 Ford Fusion vehicles to replace driver seat track assembly

Ford is issuing a safety compliance recall for approximately 40 2016 Ford Fusion vehicles to replace the driver seat track assembly. In certain vehicles, the seat mounting bracket attachment to the seat track rail may have been improperly welded, resulting in reduced seat track strength.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Affected vehicles include 39 vehicles in the United States, built at Hermosillo Assembly Plant, March 10, 2016 through March 16, 2016.

Dealers will replace the driver seat track assembly at no cost to the customer.

Default Subaru recalls 48.5k Legacy, Outback models for steering defect

The Basics: Subaru is recalling 48,500 Legacy sedans and Outback CUVs from model years 2016 and 2017.

The Problem: According to the NHTSA bulletin, the steering column in affected vehicles may not have been machined properly. This could cause the angle of the steering wheel to have no impact on the direction of travel – the wheel will turn and the car won't.

Injuries/Deaths: Neither Subaru nor NHTSA have indicated whether there were any injuries or deaths associated with this recall.

The fix: Subaru will inspect steering columns on the affected vehicles and replace them as necessary. Naturally, repairs will be done free of charge.

If you own one: Subaru and NHTSA advise that owners do not drive their vehicles until they've been inspected. While Subaru is sending letters to owners, dealers will also reach out directly to schedule an on-sight inspection or arrange to have the vehicle towed to the dealership.

More information: If repairs are necessary, Subaru will cover all costs associated with towing and provide affected consumers a free loaner.

I thought the key bonging thing was something automakers did just to annoy you, didn't know it was a federally required annoyance.

Default FCA recalling 400k Jeep Wranglers, 40k Fiat 500s

Statement: Clockspring
May 18, 2016 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is voluntarily recalling an estimated 392,464 older-model SUVs in the U.S. to replace their clockspring assemblies and related components.

Located in a vehicle's steering wheel, a clockspring forms part of the circuit that helps control airbag function. An investigation by FCA US determined excessive exposure to dust and dirt – consistent with extensive off-road driving or driving with a vehicle's top and/or doors removed – may compromise the clockspring and eventually prevent driver-side airbag deployment in a crash.

If this condition is present, the airbag warning-lamp will be illuminated. If such an event occurs, customers are advised to contact their dealers.

The Company is unaware any potentially related injuries or accidents.

Affected by this campaign are model-year 2007-2010 Jeep Wrangler SUVs. An additional 7,435 model-year 2011-2016 vehicles equipped with right-hand drive for special duty also are affected in the U.S.

Vehicles affected outside the U.S. comprise an estimated 35,412 in Canada; 8,529 in Mexico and 62,580 outside the NAFTA region. Customers will be advised when they may schedule service, which includes installation of a new steering-wheel back cover and a steering-column shroud.

Customers with questions may call the FCA US Customer Care Center at 1-800-853-1403.

###

Statement: Clutch Function
May 18, 2016 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is voluntarily recalling an estimated 39,217 cars in the U.S. to upgrade their clutch release systems.

An FCA US investigation determined certain vehicles equipped with manual transmissions are subject to clutch travel that may exceed design parameters. Over time, this may cause component damage capable of restricting gear shifts and propulsion.

The Company is unaware of any related injuries or accidents. The investigation discovered a small number of cases involving damage, accounting for 0.01% of the entire vehicle population affected by this recall.

The campaign is limited to certain model-year 2012-2016 Fiat 500 mini-compact cars. Vehicles equipped with turbocharged engines are not affected.

An estimated 7,834 cars in Canada are also subject to recall, as are an estimated 7,155 in Mexico and 26,268 outside the NAFTA region.

Customers will be advised when they may schedule service. FCA US urges customers to heed the instructions on their recall notices.

Those with questions may call the FCA US Customer Care Center at 1-800-853-1403.

That recall about the Wrangler doesn't surprise me. Some people take the carpet out of their Jeeps, put waterproof seat covers on and leave the top off and let them get rained in, mud/water/dirt/dust comes flying in while off roading, they see a lot of abuse from water/dirt in the interior that other trucks just don't see. With all the electronics in newer Jeeps, I'm sure that engineering all of that stuff not to short out when getting wet/dirty required a bit of work.

Default Mercedes-AMG GT S recalled for potential driveshaft failure

Press Release

What's the Issue:

Daimler AG has determined that on certain MY16 AMG GT S vehicles (C190) the bond between the carbon-fiber driveshaft and the engine/transmission flange might not meet the specification. The strength of the adhesive between the drive shaft and the flange might be compromised due to insufficient cleaning of the respective bonding surfaces prior to assembly. In such a case, the carbon-fiber driveshaft might separate from the flange and spin. This could result in loss of traction between the engine and transmission and thus lead to loss of motive power, and increase the risk of a potential crash.

What We're Doing:

MBUSA has initiated a voluntary recall of the 135 potentially affected vehicles described above. The recall will be conducted by an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer to check the driveshaft and replace it if necessary. Please note that MB Select funds may be used for this recall to enhance the customer experience with these new vehicles.

Next Steps:

· Replacement parts are not yet available.
· This recall is scheduled to launch on approximately July1, 2016, when parts become available.
· Customer notification letters will be mailed approximately one week after the recall launch.

While we regret any inconvenience this may cause, MBUSA is determined to maintain a high level of vehicle quality and customer satisfaction. Please refer all customer inquiries to the Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-FOR-MERCedes (1-800-367-6372).

Default Kia Recalls 12k Optima Sedans With Cracked Driveshafts

Kia has issued a recall on 12,214 of itsOptima sedans across America due to a driveshaft problem.

According to the National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA), the problem relates to the 2016 Optima – specifically those built between November 13, 2015, and April 23, 2016, and equipped with the 2.4-liter engine. The naturally aspirated inline-four is the base engine on the Optima, alongside the smaller, turbocharged 1.6 and 2.0-liter units.

On those vehicles affected, the right front axle driveshaft may crack, which could either prevent the vehicle from moving forward, or allow it to roll away even with the parking brake applied.

Neither would be a particularly favorable situation, so Kia is instructing dealers to replace the problematic driveshaft. The campaign is slated to kick off on November 29.
