Now does it really need two turbos to make 300hp? I understand needing it for 400hp, but 300? Wasteful and unnecessary cost. Even then for an engine with two turbos, the torque numbers are a bit low for both tunes. Sure one can argue better torque curve or driveability, but its a 3L V6 so that in itself will mitigate a lot of the lag relative to a 4cyl.

this is awesome. this is hopefully the first step to revive infiniti's brand and might even bring back the glory days of the g35.
only one thing to say here: WAKE UP TOYOTA! we needed a new engine for the top end IS and GS about 2 years ago!

What's wrong with the 3.5L? How fast are you looking to go when speed limits are 55-65mph around the country.

I went from a IS350 to an A4 to a G37S. What I loved most about the G37S was the power and the handling. Do I miss the power? Maybe but I'm glad I went back to Lexus. I thought about the Q50 for a bit but heard of the problems that car was having especially with the navigation screen. Can't compare the Q50 to the GS350 though as they're different class but engine wise, props to them coming out with a 400hp TT engine.

Yes it is. Hehe. The reason I dont update my car because lexus is using the 2gr fse for 10 years now. Hopefully it will get update by mid cycle refresh on the IS and not till the next Gen it would be forever!

This is not the only 300hp TT 3L motor on the market. It's not that crazy and it needs the torque curve to remain competitive. The current VQ37 gets criticized for not having enough low end torque. It's also not wasteful of this motor and the I4 are the only motors offered...why introduce a 3rd motor? That's what you call unnecessary complexity.

I have always loved Infiniti for their performance and handling.
The only let down is that the interior and engines do not last.
My last 2004 Infiniti FX45 had a common driver power seat motor failure issue and a dash trim that bubbles.
The final straw is that most of the older Infiniti/Nissan engines burn oil and began smoking as well around 100k miles, including my 2004 FX45 V8.
If Infiniti have solved the oil burning/interior issues then I would look into buying one the newer Q50 in a heart-beat.
I will look into how well the 2010+ Infiniti models have been doing, because I may become a Infiniti owner again if they got their crap together.

New engines sound great... is there any news about new diesel? European PR doesnt mention diesel which is weird.
I wish they updated interior and exterior looks more though. Due to the pricing, I would consider Q50 here in Europe if they add new diesel/AT combo and everything else is good.

the facts are, the 2GR-FSE is 10 years old, and toyota is sitting on its laurels and reputation at this point. Or maybe they really just don't have their next generation of engines ready yet.
