Default Favorite Brand of Oil?

What's the favorite brand of oil that the Lexus community uses and that i can find easily at most auto parts stores? I go on a lot of road trips so i like to keep a quart of oil in the trunk just in case i need it.

Mobil 1 is all I use. I even use it in my snowblower & lawnmower. Your Lexus is factory filled with synthetic oil.

whatever is the cheapest synthetic.
I'm changing every 5000 miles, so it doesn't really matter the brand

I've always liked Castrol myself. And, through not uniform by any means, it seems like the majority of racing teams use one of four brands....Castrol, Penzoil, Valvoline, or Mobil 1.

Full synthetic is not just an additive package, and majority of syn. oil sold: starts with crude oil, non-syn. base.
- kinda like false advertising, but the lobbyists have changed the rules

Amsoil is tops IMPO, doesn't start with crude oil, as a base / a True Synthetic.
- I only use either Amsoil (but expensive) or Pennzoil Platinum® Full Synthetic (on sale locally)
- Fram Filters are garbage / I buy Amsoil Extended Life Filters or WIX GOLD premium oil filters - just as important as the engine oil choice

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/pennzoil-q-a/
Pennzoil Platinum® Full Synthetic motor oils with PurePlus™ Technology are first-of-their kind synthetic motor oils blended with a pure, clear base oil made from natural gas. PurePlus™ base oil has fewer of the impurities found in crude oil, the start for many other traditional and synthetic motor oils. The difference is in the base oil, which makes up 75%-90% of a typical motor oil formulation. Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic motor oils use 100% PurePlus™ base oil.

Pennzoil Platinum® Full Synthetic motor oils with PurePlus™ Technology provide engines Complete Protection without compromise. Complete Protection is defined as coverage on five key areas consumers deemed as most critical for motor oil performance: 1) engine cleanliness, 2) fuel economy, 3) conservation of horsepower, 4) wear protection, and 5) performance in extreme temperatures. These benefits make Pennzoil Platinum® Full Synthetic motor oils with PurePlus™ Technology excellent choices for advanced engines, including direct injection engines.

Pennzoil Platinum® Full Synthetic motor oils with PurePlus™ Technology keep pistons cleaner than any other leading synthetic motor oil. (Based on pistons from standard V6 engine in ASTM Sequence IIIG piston deposit test using SAE 5W-30.) In fact, Pennzoil Ultra Platinum™ keeps pistons up to 25% cleaner than Mobil 1 and Pennzoil Platinum® keeps pistons up to 8% cleaner than Mobil 1.

Castrol or Mobil 1 are my top choices for my non-turbo engines, however Total oil seems to a good oil for turbo charged cars with direct injection.

Ohh so Pennzoil is better than Mobil 1? I haven't changed or paid for oil change for a while...

But I think most manufactures use Mobil 1 or castrol as their OEM, such as Lexus.

One thing that is certain, there will never be an agreement on what the best oil is. Ever.

As is with pretty much every subjective thing, cars, food, music etc..

---

I'll play, Chevron motor oil and gasoline only for my car
