Looks like it's getting LED lights for low and high beams. That explains the smaller headlights. Not sure if turn signals use LED or bulbs.

The veils are off of the exciting new ES, revealed at the 2015 Shanghai International Motor Show. The new improved ES features an exciting, sportier attitude, highlighted by elegant yet progressive exterior styling, improved luxurious interior construction and the new innovative safety system, Lexus Safety System +.

5ES sleek and beautiful? Let's just agree to disagree That was a good car but its bland, amorphous looks wouldn't stand a chance in today's marketplace.
Anyway I'm hearing about this new Lexus Safety + system for the ES but I have no idea what it is.

I like the upgrades!
Not sure where you're coming from there. I had both, the 4ES was incredibly high quality and well built, beautiful interior. Styling was a little different. The 5ES was much better looking, but build quality and interior were a step down from the 4ES.
That 4ES is still in my family with 175k miles. It still drives as good and tight as when it was new.
The 4 and 5ES were also the best selling generations of the ES.

Pole Position
280-290 HP is about the upper limit for a FWD chassis, at least from a "sensible" car company. Sure, it's been done in the past but it's rarely a successful combination. 300 HP in a FWD car is simply "disastrous". Cars manufactured these days with horsepower approaching this limit have electronic nannies that limit horsepower/torque to the front wheels in lower gears to make the car more drivable/manageable. How lame is that?
