Talking What are the chances???? Not even Jay Leno can say this:)

I have a 2004 RX330 and a 2007 RX400h. What are the chances that I can take either key, stick it into either car door, turn the key and it will open both RX's? Yes! I have 2 RX's that are keyed alike. The dealership was totally amazed that 2 cars made in different countries have the same key pattern and end up in the same family. Every time I bring either car in for service, my adviser always smiles and shakes his head in amazement. I've been told that the keys can be programmed so one key could start both cars and they would do it for free...lol!

Welcome to CL as a new poster.

Are both of the door locks on your two vehicles original...or don't you know? It's not very likely, but possible that the lock on one or both of them could have been changed for a number of reasons.....a defect, damage, replacement of the whole door after an accident, etc....and just, by coincidence, matched. Usually, though, if a door lock cylinder is changed,, you end up with two keys for the vehicle....one for the door lock, and the other for the ignition (unless your RXes have push-button start....as most newer ones do, but yours are older).

The locks are original, I bought both new and never been in an accident. Wife wants a 5 door Mini, so I think the 2004 will have to go Will send an email to Jay Leno to see if he's interested in both vehicles...lmao! My adviser did say someone was interested in buying both if they become available.

Not car key, but last time when I sold my house and moved to my new one, the old garage remote opened the garage in my new house
