Couldn't have said it any better.

one reason the ISF understeers because of its puny 225 front tires. Theres a reason why the 2012+ ISF has wider wheels. RCF and GSF have 255 fronts and they have the TVD. It will corner better than the ISF. Yaguchi explicitly said he wanted the GS front to be able to fit larger tires, basically recognizing that was a weakness with the ISF.

m5 still has the best proportions all around.

I wish they would design the GSF from the ground up rather than retrofitting a spindle snout to the original 4GS. The front bumper sticks out too much.

This GSF's headlights and drl actually follow the original 4gs concept, but the concept looks better.

Concept was a thing of beauty and quite the precursor.

I am disappointed that Yaguchi san has chosen the GS platform to make the sedan counterpart.

I was hoping for a new IS-F since I like the compact and short wheelbase of the RC-F as it will feel a lot more responsive.

i doubt the V8 fits in the IS engine bay, the ISF had to be extended by a few inches for it to fit. Yaguchi specifically wanted the GS front so it can fit wider tires, pretty much recognizing the 225s on the IS were a weakness.

I think the more damning proposition as far as Lexus enthusiasts are concerned is whether Lexus even wants to sell more than a few dozen a month - I mean, just look at how short supply the RC-F has been.

In any case, I hope this car is a great drive. The mags and reviewers will no doubt spend lots of time bemoaning the relatively low power, but hopefully they'll comment on the handling and driver feeback and hopefully it'll be good.

Not sure if that is the reason. Looks like Lexus did not want RC-F coupe to directly compete against a sedan. Lexus could have easily done what BMW with the E92/E90 M3. When the E90 sedan could not work for the M3, BMW essentially made an E90 M3 sedan out of the E92 M3.

Lexus could shorten the front doors of the RC-F, to make room for rear doors, modify the front seats a bit for more leg room in the back and an RC-F sedan would have been the ultimate solution I was hoping for.

The 4 door RC F or the IS F many have been wanting / waiting for is the GS F. Maybe facelift IS will get new V6 turbo and come closer to RC F straight line performance with lower weight, but I don't expect any IS F in for this generation. Or V6 Turbo + Hybrid at facelift?

Yes, this design actually almost looked production ready. Add side mirrors, front side vents, fender vents and quad exhaust and you have a more stately and better flowing GSF.

They would then have created another class of Lexus sedan between the IS and the GS then ??

Because of the ES monkey wrench the GS does not line up perfectly with the Euro midsizes. In fact it's a few inches shorter at 190in and the latest IS is 183in. So the GS F appears to be a GS500 when viewed as a GS or perhaps a step-in for the IS F and similar to the RC/RC F (4GS, IS C, 3IS, IS F CCSR derived) which is on hiatus at the moment (the IS F). A bridge engine to keep V8 Lexus sedan enthusiasts happy until proper on par powertrains with intended competitors are made for each F marque car. Till then these should be fun reliable and passion driven vehicles.
