Regarding turbos, Ferrari said it best:
"Immediate, predictable response is a requirement in any driver's car. Turbo lag cannot be eliminated."
Sure, you can make a car blast from 0-60, but it's power response during various technical turns does make a difference.
A driver's car is surely different than a dragster's car.

Volvo has the answer to turbo lag:. A third electric turbo to spool the others.
http://www.autoblog.com/2014/10/07/v...linder-engine/
The new High Performance Drive-E Powertrain incorporates two parallel turbochargers fed by a third electric turbo-compressor. Instead of feeding the cylinders directly, that third unit spools up the twin turbochargers, working together with a dual fuel pump pressurized to 250 bar.

Magazines shouldnt sway your opinion in any direction. Only a test drive should. Hp wars are kinda dumb. If everyone keeps one-upping the other, you'll end up with 1000hp sedans in about 10 years. Do you really need to stroke your ego that much? I think Lexus is after driving dynamics. Not sure why people quote biased euro mags on the RC F, we know how they work. Looking forward to this car. As long as Toyota make exciting cars and make money doing it, I'll be happy.

Lexus will have turbo 6 and 8cyl engines starting with new LS.
For ppl that LOVE NA motors the RCF and GSF are prob the last of the great ones and should be reliable too,
Even Porsche is going to Turbo on all 911s.

Behind the curve? Lol, how are they behind making turbos which they made two decades ago? Even further back, actually. Turbocharging is not new. Imo its a 'trend'. One that people are misled to believe are superior or 'higher tech' or even more fuel efficient. Its great that there are turbo engines, but Toyota are NOT behind. They chose NA for a reason.

So how com the new NX has a 2.0 4cyl turbo which will be in the RC and IS next year.
This is YEARS after MB/BMW/Audi already brought theirs to market as well as 6 and 8 cyl turbos.
The Lexus turbo really has no special feature to differentiate itself that you can say was the reason for the delay.
Also the new LS will come with turbo 6 and 8cyl engines which will then work their way to GS etc.

Turbos have their advantages and disadvantages, which are increased power and fuel economy, yet have lag to deal with, and are more costly for the manufacturers. Hence why they sort of died out a while back...
With technology catching up to reduce lag, and more so all the requirements put on by the govt to make cars more fuel efficient, we will be seeing smaller engines with turbos replacing power plants in more cars and trucks in the years to come.

The turbo lag is in most cases completely irrelevant, especially on cars with automatic gearboxes. The delay and hesitation in throttle response a normal Lexus gearbox makes, like the 6 speed in NX, is a far bigger concern than the actual turbo lag. DSG gearboxes and real clutch operated manuals are a different story. But since Lexus doesnt offer any of them there is really no problem at all for them to use turbo.

Sad... Not feeling the sloping front end.
Poor performance numbers. Needed a V10, or at least forced induction.
I love the wheels.
I love the interior!
Lexus needed something new for the powertrain. This is really a heavier, bigger, slower, RCF.
I think the GS is the best car lexus makes but this is underwhelming

The back of the GS-F keep remind me of the Sonata.....it's not attractive by today's design. If its a 4 door version of the RC-F.....would they price it at 70k?? It doesn't standout from its competitor

2016 Lexus GS F First Look | Detroit Auto Show
This 2016 Lexus GS F video preview includes information about its V8 engine, Torque Vectoring Differential and unique styling inside and out. This high-performance Lexus sedan will debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show (http://www.edmunds.com/auto-shows/det...).
The GS F isn't to be confused with the GS 350 F Sport, which is essentially a regular GS 350 that gets improvements to its suspension, steering and brakes – plus more exciting styling. The GS F is the full-blown, high-performance version of the GS that is set to be the Lexus (http://www.lexus.com) answer to cars like the BMW M5, Audi RS6 and Mercedes E63.
It shares many components with the RC F coupe, including its naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 that's good for 467 horsepower and 389 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel-drive and an eight-speed automatic are standard, along with Lexus' Torque Vectoring Differential for sharper handling.
Visually, everything from the A pillar forward is unique to the GS F. Much of the rear has been altered as well, including the quad pipes that are real – unlike those in the old IS F. The interior isn't quite as different as the exterior is relative the GS 350, but it does get special sport seats like the RC F does. Note that the two-tone color scheme won't be available in North America.
Read the 2016 Lexus GS F FAQ (http://www.edmunds.com/auto-shows/det...) for more information and make sure to follow our full coverage on Edmunds of the 2015 North American International Auto Show (http://www.edmunds.com/auto-shows/det...).
