Default Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Ready To Get Dirty For $40,760 MSRP

Toyota announced pricing and range details for the 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro, the most capable off-road iteration of the model that launched last fall.

The TRD Pro comes with a factory-installed off-road package tuned by TRD that includes FOX 2.5 internal bypass shocks, front springs with a 1-inch lift, rear suspension with progressive-rate off-road leaf spring and a cat-back stainless steel exhaust system.

Under the bonnet lies a 278hp 3.5-litre V6 engine paired to either a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox. A part-time 4WD with a transfer case will be standard to all models, with Toyota further adding an oil cooler, power steering cooler and a 130-amp alternator.

On the outside, the new Tacoma TRD Pro can be distinguished by the heritage-inspired front grille, the blacked-out hood scoop, new projector-beam headlights and taillights with black bezels, a set of 16-inch TRD black alloy wheels shod with Kevlar-reinforced tires, an aluminum front skid plate, black overfenders and many more.

The cabin is now decorated with numerous TRD accessories as you would expect while the heated seats are dressed in leather. A 4.2-inch digital display in the driver’s gauges hosts an integrated inclinometer and tilt gauge among projecting other useful information.

Pricing starts at $40,760 for the Double Cab manual version with the automatic priced from $42,760. The first cars will arrive in dealerships next month.

Default Lightweight Borla Exhaust System For 2016 Toyota Tacoma Comes With A Million-Mile War

Borla Performance Industries has come up with a new Cat-Back exhaust system, designed and engineered exclusively for the 2016 Toyota Tacoma.

The aftermarket part, which can be had from $640.99 directly from the factory, is manufactured from T-304 stainless steel, it has a 2.5-inch (63.5 mm) diameter and is supplied with a single 4-inch (101.6 mm) round tailpipe. Borla states that it provides a smooth, deep tone that allows the driver to "enjoy it without annoying the neighborhood".

Tipping the scales at 29 pounds (13 kg) and shipped in a package that has a total weight of 43 pounds (19.5 kg), the new exhaust system has been designed for vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, in both two- and four-wheel drive, and it is intended for the Crew Cab version, with the short cargo bed. However, Borla Performance Industries also offers an optional adapter, which makes the part suitable for the Double Cab variant with long cargo bed and 140.6-inch wheelbase as well.

The company's million-mile (1.6 million km) warranty is available for the non-moving parts of the 2016 Toyota Tacoma's exhaust system too, if the driver covers 20,000 miles (32,187 km) annually for the next 50 years, while the catalytic converters and all moving parts, such as actuators and valves, are warranted for three years.
