The 7th gen Camry also has a coarse headliner, though not as harsh & brittle as the one used in the NX.
The previous 2006-2011 6th gen Camry had a very high quality, silk-like Lexus grade headliner material..

Signs of cost cutting I guess..
By brittle, do you mean that the headliner looks like it will break?

I think what he is referring to is the hard plastic that some manufacturers, especially on lower-level vehicles, use for the sun-visors. It could (?) also be on the general headliner...but that would be very unusual, even with cost-cutting. Even when the hard cheap stuff ("brittle", as he describes it) is used on the sun visors, you usually have, at least on American-market vehicles, a fabric-lined ceiling/headliner, though sometimes that fabric can be quite thin and cheap-feeling. I find it hard to believe that any Lexus product, at least with American-specs, would use the hard brittle stuff on the ceiling...except (maybe) for part of the sunroof housing.

Of course, though, that's why cars are reviewed.....to see what they do and don't have. We'll see.

I'm referring to the entire headliner. It uses the same material used by Mercedes & BMW, which feels very harsh & hard. My IS has a very soft velvet like headliner and sun-visor.

Mercedes

Compared to the traditional material Lexus has always used which is super soft and very refined

I wouldn't say it is "brittle" I personally think the technical knit/mesh pattern (which is still padded and has give to it) looks more modern and has some visual depth rather than the flat smooth material used on the 2IS.

So the argument is between techno-knit and mouse fur?

No, the previous Lexus sedans definitely didn't use mouse fur, now THAT is something I would call "brittle"
