Default 2015 Volkswagen Eos Final Edition gets detailed & priced [video]

Costs $39,165

Following a preview earlier this year, Volkswagen has unveiled the 2015 Eos Final Edition.

Set to be the last hurrah for the slow selling convertible, the Final Edition is based on the Eos Sport and features bi-xenon headlights, black mirrors and 18-inch Vicenza-style alloy wheels. The car has also been equipped with a sport-tuned suspension which reduces the ride height by a few millimeters.

The cabin largely carries over but comes nicely equipped Cornsilk Beige / Vienna leather seats, aluminum trim and Black Peak accents. The car also has contrast stitching, rain-sensing wipers and a rearview camera.

Like the standard model, the Eos Final Edition is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 200 bhp (149 kW) and 207 lb-ft (280 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission which enables the convertible to return 22 mpg city / 30 mpg highway.

The Eos Final Edition will go on sale shortly and pricing starts at $39,165.

EOS is one of the few, if not the only, bad looking VW cars in past decade.

For what it's worth I think the refreshed front looks better than when it debuted. That's about the only nice thing I'll say

Default VW Eos to Be Axed By the Middle of the Year

VW announced that its four-seater convertible Eos will stop its career sometime between May and June of this year, due to the decreasing interest in the market.

Featuring a folding hard-top, the VW Eos debuted in 2006 in order to rival the popular Peugeot 307CC and its successor 308CC. Since then, demand for affordable four-seater convertibles has dropped significantly in Europe, with Eos ranking 9th in its segment, a decrease of 14 per cent to 3,197 cars according to JATO Dynamics.

VW says that the Setubal plant in Portugal will not be affected after the production end of the Eos with the German giant to invest a further 677 million euros in the facility by 2018.

Apparently customers in Europe now prefer their convertibles softtop and VW will now concentrate on the Beetle Cabriolet and Golf Cabriolet as both of them finished in the first two places respectively, on last year’s sales chart.
