Question winter storage advice

I am thinking about taking my 2000 ES300 to northern Michigan and storing it for eight months each year -- October thru May. I have read a ton of different opinions on starting or not starting the car during that time period. Some say if you don't start and drive it regularly, civilization as we know it will soon be over. Others say starting it for a few minutes every couple weeks or once a month actually does more harm than good so just put a trickle charger on it and leave it alone. Anyone got any "real" advice other than "I think you should...." Thanks in advance.
