I was told don't flush the fluids when the car gets that old if you never did before. Two mechanics told me that. I haven't put premium gas in, either, for 5 years. It's 5 degrees here in Chicago and it starts and runs beautifully still. The traction in snow kind of sucks without snow tires, though.

I bought one an LS 400 today for $1200 with 231K miles on it. I need to replace a couple capacitors to get the fuel gage and instrument lights working. I think the coolant reservoir is cracked and I think I will need to replace the power steering pump and ACV attached to it under it. I will install a new set of tires. The body and interior is perfect. I drove it 40 miles home last night. I am going to enjoy fixing her and driving her, and I wouldn't have bought her if I didn't believe in her.

What year is it?
LS400's are really nice cars. There are some with over 500,000 miles with no major issues.

My 06 IS250 has stock clutch, stock motor and the only major issue was the head exhaust valves issue and that was covered by the dealer at 103K. The car has 137K now and still ticking.
I have completed all maintenance on time and I hope to keep it till the new IS model is unvealed.

Lexus ES300 1997
I have about 290,000 miles on my Lexus. I bought it a little over 3 years ago used with 222,000 miles on it for $2,750. Best investment I ever made. It runs beautifully and the body is still in great shape.
The most I have put into it was a timing belt and other expected maintenance but still way cheaper than a new car.
Looove it!!!

It's a 94. And I wish I knew some way of determining what options it has. E.g., I read about air suspension but I don't know if that is an option. It has the gold Lexus Logo and I don't know if that means anything. I have determined that it came off the assembly line in 12 '93 and was sold in March of '94. But I don't know how to determine if it is the anniversary edition. I apologize for taking so long to respond; I've been swamped.

I have 260,000 miles on my 97' es300. rebuilt the trans, wheel bearings, engine mounts, cv axle, breaks and rotors three times, all four struts. Normal wear and tear stuff any car would go through after driving the equivalent distance from the earth to the moon. It has only not started once when the transmission crapped out. Used it to commute to LA from San Diego daily.
