looking for a new car have about 10K to spend
Hi all,
I owned a 2002 lexus gs400 for while and sold it (not by brightest decision) and got into a g35, which was okay but recently sold it cause i want to get back into a Lexus. I have a around 10k cash to spend give or take a few hundred but not really sure what i want or whats in that price range. My favorite is the g models was looking around for an 06 gs300 but seems to be out of my price range for used cars in south Florida. Any ideas?
I have owned a 98 sc400 and a 02 GS400 liked them both but loved the GS.
I have looked at cars mainly through Craigs list, autotrader, and other internet sites and went to see two:
2006 gs300- 88K miles, rebuilt title asking close to 11k in really good shape drove beautifully. had check engine light, i scanned it and emission and evap came up im thinking maybe catalytic converter. really clean interior/exterior all electronics working. it seems to have been hit in the front end because radiator support has been changed but panels hood ect. are all orginal and matching vins but were painted.
2006 IS250 115k miles, clean title (no accidents) engine recently recalled (some kind of carbon build up in the engine) all work done at Lexus dealership work done on recall warranted through dec. asking 10.5k mechanically car ran great, but interior is not in good shape dash and door panels all have that sticky dash problem worst i've seen it with holes and all. also pretty good wearing of the leather and in need of a detail. hood has been painted owner said car was keyed, paintjob seemed ok but might have some runs as i did see weird penny size spots in the front but had to look really hard to see it. drives good with navi and rear cam options all electronics working but has a airbag light on which i did not run on a scanner
I have never brought a rebuilt title so i don't really now what to expect or if its a good idea, but im open to it i guess as long as it was put together well and had no water damage... at least i think im open to it. if anyone is selling anything i may be willing to travel.
any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated
Thanks!!

For 10k, both suck IMO. I know its a BIT older(although mechanically about the same as a newer IS300 or GS300), but I did pay $9,000 for a 1992 SC300/5 speed, one owner car with 60,000 miles on it. Never in an accident, no scratches, never driven in the winter, paint looked like new, leather seats had hardly any wear, all the electrics worked, even smelled new.
Keep looking, and don't be afraid to drive a bit to find a nice car and a good deal. I had to fly to the Jersey shore and drive it back to Tennessee. Totally worth it, plus I enjoy a nice long drive.
Just keep looking, you'll find that old man/old lady car out there that has hardly any miles on it and has been impecciably kept.
