Lexus RX / GX / TX speculation

it will certainly have 8AT and new V6... although just because it has 8AT, doesnt mean it will be a lot better... RX F-Sport has 8AT and I believe members here said 6AT is better in that car.

Ummm because they're completely different engine architectures and families? Just because you made one engine doesn't mean you can just slap that turbo on every engine and be done with it.

There's a lot of work that goes into the development of a new technology, and then the amount of tuning for each specific application. Toyota is simply spread a little thin at the moment.

Overall capabilities yes, but resources are stretched thin at Toyota right now, especially in powertrains where every single vehicle group is asking for an update. Toyota has fallen a bit behind in terms of rolling out direct injection to the Toyota side, revamping the Lexus side, expanding adoption of 8-speed automatics, the whole fuel cell group, hybrids for the next gen Prius and beyond, etc.

But in any case, being european with high CO2 taxes, i could care less about turbo petrols anymore... just give us cheaper V6 Hybrids I guess :-).

True. Capital of Toyota already exceed multiple countries combined. Money isn't a problem when it come to update engine for their future product. They probably have plan in place, but it's not the time to act on Lexus 3.5L replacement yet.

That rumored turbo V6 is likely going to to sport sedans like IS and GS.
