Range Rover Sport and Evoque rumored to get RS versions
A report in Autocar claims that Jaguar's RS badge and its herd of extra horsepower is walking across the aisle to the Land Rover stable. Autocar sources say the Range Rover Sport and Evoque will get RS designations, the supercharged V8 in the Sport RS getting cranked up to "at least" 542 horsepower, the 2.0-liter EcoBoost in the Evoque RS getting 300.
The magazine has spy shots of an extra potent Sport testing at the Nürburgring, slight changes to the lower parts of the SUV giving it away as a ringer. Supposedly, with the same horsepower (or more) than the RS cars in the Jaguar fold, Land Rover wants it to get from 0-60 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds; that would make it just 0.1 second shy of the same run in a Jaguar XJR. The Evoque RS is said to be arriving first, perhaps this year, with the Range Rover Sport RS coming next year.

Overfinch debuts its own Range Rover Sport
A few days before the Goodwood debut of the Special Vehicle Operations-designed Range Rover Sport SVR, Land Rover tuner Overfinch has unveiled its own hotter version of the Sport. Overfinch has been in the Land Rover customization business since 1975, and the range of its modifications extends to performance and appearance of the latest from Coventry.
Overfinch has fitted its version of the Range Rover Sport Supercharged with a performance exhaust system and an upgraded supercharger, also tweaking the engine control unit (ECU) in the process. The result is a gain of 42 hp, which brings the total output up to 542 hp; that's up from 510 hp in the standard Range Rover Sport Supercharged. Overfinch will also offer "Track Mode" on their version of the Range Rover Sport, which opens up the valves in the exhaust system via a button on the key fob.

The company has also redesigned the front and rear fascias of the SUV, fitting it with an enlarged front splitter, a rear diffuser, and additional LED running lights. Overfinch has also added a rear spoiler to the tailgate. In addition, the company will be offering specially designed wheels for this model in 21-inch, 22-inch, and 23-inch diameters.
On the inside, Overfinch offers a wide selection of wood veneers, Bridge of Weir leather, and carbon fiber details in a choice of bronze, charcoal, and green colors. Interiors are what Overfinch has become known for, and this is really where customers are given the freedom to customize. Incidentally, the interior details are where most of the time and money are spent, and as with entries from other tuning houses, the interior is perhaps the single greatest variable when it comes to the price of the final build process. Overfinch offers a wide range of seat designs for all of its cars, and the stitching options alone would probably take weeks for us to pick out.
Overfinch says it'll make just 100 of these per year, and that it will have a base price of $150,000 before options are added.
It will be interesting to see how Overfinch's version stacks up against the Range Rover Sport SVR, not just in the performance arena, but in terms of price.

Whitley, UK, 30 July 2014 The Range Rover Sport SVR has lapped the famous Nordschleife circuit at the Nürburgring in Germany in 8 minutes 14 seconds, making it the fastest production SUV around the Nürburgring. The impressive feat was carried out by a Land Rover driver testing a standard production example of the potent new performance flagship.
The new SVR, which made its dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June returned to the Nürburgring this month to continue an exhaustive testing schedule. The Range Rover Sport SVR is powered by an uprated version of Land Rover's 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, which has been tuned to deliver 550PS a 40PS increase over the existing V8 Supercharged derivative.
The handling characteristics of the SVR have been honed on the demanding Nürburgring Nordschleife because the undulating circuit's challenging layout represents the ultimate test for high performance vehicles.
Mike Cross, Chief Engineer Vehicle Integrity, said: "The Nürburgring is a benchmark for vehicle development and testing, and cars become stronger, more durable and faster over its 13 miles and 70-plus corners. We wanted to see whether an SUV could behave like a performance car in this challenging environment. The results are spectacular and the Range Rover Sport SVR has demonstrated outstanding on-road performance capabilities."
Development of the Range Rover Sport SVR has been carried out by Jaguar Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations team, with the aim of producing the most performance-focused Range Rover Sport ever. This has been achieved without compromising the vehicle's class-leading all terrain capabilities or high levels of comfort. The Range Rover Sport SVR features a twin-speed transfer case to provide a choice of high and low gear ratios and the same 850mm wading depth as other models in the Range Rover Sport line-up.
The Range Rover Sport SVR will arrive in Land Rover showrooms in 2015.
