They could obviously be testing the car in the current body, and plan to change it for production, but depending on when they are going to show it to the public, it goes one of two ways:
1) GS F is in the current GS body for one model year (disappointing with a refresh just around the corner).
2) The GS F is part of a GS refresh announcement that includes GS 200t and several mid-cycle upgrades.
I am hoping for the latter.

only possibility is if GS does not get facelift in 2015... which i dont think is going to happen.

Likely a 2016 model we are looking at. 2015 is slated for a Nav update and some minor things (moving grid lines etc..)
Another possibility is when they used the term 'legacy buyers' with news of the RX not getting the RC/NX touchpad, and continuing to use the current RT they may retain a current meld of headlights and DRL on the GS. Some Lexus's won't be using what was thought to be design standards. Personally I'd like to see them separate, we'll see.
I was hoping that the GS F would debut in refreshed GS form, with what I assume will be full spindle, separate DRLs, revisions to exterior and interior, etc.

Could have 500 bhp
A prototype of the upcoming Lexus GS F has been spied undergoing testing near and on the Nürburgring in Germany.
According to our sources, Lexus was benchmarking this red GS F prototype against a BMW M5 so it's clear the high-powered GS is aiming at the M5 clientele. Under the hood it will reportedly get a V8 5.0-liter engine sourced from the RC F where it delivers 467 bhp (348 kW) and 526 Nm (389 lb-ft) but in the GS F the motor will be further tweaked to develop as much as 500 bhp (373 kW) and 541 Nm (400 lb-ft).
Mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, the Lexus GS F is expected to run the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint in about four and a half seconds on its way to a top speed of more than 170 mph (273 km/h). Matching these impressive numbers will be an aggressive body kit with large air intakes and a massive front spindle grille. Also on the menu there are bigger alloys, a quad exhaust setup, rear diffuser and beefier brakes.
Also from the RC F, the upcoming GS F will reportedly borrow the strut front & multi-link rear suspension setup along with the rear-wheel drive chassis configuration and other mechanical components.
According to a recent report, the Lexus GS F will be available for order in the fourth quarter of next year as a 2016MY, with pricing starting at an estimated £80,000.

I don't think the GS F in this generation is built to compete against M5/RS6/E AMG. I think it is just there for those GS buyers that would like more power and a V8, note that there is no GS 460 anymore. The GS F is not aimed at M5/RS6 and E AMG buyers.

well, it could be like S6... but certainly not meant to replace GS460... thing think will have 500hp :-).

It would be really nice if GS F was hybrid. Would be the first luxury performance hybrid on the market, and alone that would make it stand out compared to competitors.
