2016 Lexus GS F spied up close, could have 500 bhp
The Lexus GS F is inching closer to production as our spies have managed to snap new pictures of the BMW M5 and Mercedes E63 AMG competitor.
Caught undergoing testing in Europe, the GS F has an aggressive front fascia with a prominent spindle grille and large air intakes. Additional changes are limited but the car has lightweight alloy wheels, a rear diffuser and a distinctive four-tailpipe exhaust system.
Power will be likely be provided by a 5.0-liter V8 engine. It produces 467 bhp (348 kW) and 389 lb-ft (526 Nm) of torque in the RC F but speculation has suggested the engine could be tuned to approximately 500 bhp (373 kW) and 400 lb-ft (541 Nm) of torque in the GS F. It will likely be connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission which could enable the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than five seconds before hitting a top speed in excess of 170 mph (273 km/h).

Only 500 hp ?? hmmmmm ... Some have previously argued that lighter weight for a GS F will compensate for lesser hp than competitors' similar models, but given the weight of the new RC F, I am not holding my breath ......

This is Lexus' New GS F with a 5.0-liter V8 and Around 500HP
Lexus is finishing tests on its new high-performance GS F, which according to some sources, may debut as early as this fall at the 2014 LA Auto Show.
Technically, the GS F should go up against the BMW M5 (552hp to 592hp), Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG (550hp to 577hp) and Audi RS6 Avant (552hp).
However, if what we hear about Lexus using a mildly tuned version of the RC F's new +450hp 5.0-liter atmospheric V8 with close to 500hp is true, then it may be positioned between those cars and the likes of the 450PS (444hp) Audi S6 – at least power-wise.
We expect the Lexus to send those ponies to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic, though, we can't rule out the possibility of an AWD version to help it expand its customer base and compete with the E63 AMG 4MATIC and the S6.
Lexus' cosmetics package is on the light side with the GS F prototype getting more aggressive front and rear ends, including the "F" sub-brand's signature stacked exhaust finishers and a discrete boot lid spoiler along with side skirts, and bigger wheels, tires and brakes, but that’s about it.

Spindle, not as in yo face as rcf. No separate nike swoosh drl (yay!) Stacked quad exhaust true to the F. Bigger rear diffuser. Begging for fender flares. Vented hood would've been nice too. Over 500 hp and under 4k lbs. ( hoping). Me likey.
