Lexus GS F sightings (updated pg 20)
#258
Everyone here clamors for a GS450h F-Sport. But will be really be some sort of saving grace for the GS450h? Sales are pretty absymal at ~20 per month so far in 2014. 9 in May and 15 in June.
What kind of lift would offering the GSh in F-Sport really do?

No hybrids to hybrids
Seperate F sport parts to a F sport package
No rear seat controls to offering it on the luxury package
No f sport on the GS here to now offering it
Why do so many here have glasses half empty just berating Lexus over and over like they are God awful?

Why are you so negative Lexus nancy? It's great news, it should be commended. Rome wasn't built in a day. We went from:
No hybrids to hybrids
Seperate F sport parts to a F sport package
No rear seat controls to offering it on the luxury package
No f sport on the GS here to now offering it

I loved Toyota and Lexus growing up. I even made it a point to work for their corporate offices. But I was disappointed in the pace in which they do things, and in some of their ultimate direction.
No, Rome wasn't built in a day, but the level of competition in today's market is demanding more and faster.
I think it's great that the F-Sport finally made it over on the GSh, I just don't see why it took 3 model years to do it. I don't think it should be lauded as this amazing decision. And even that they have brought it, will it make the GSh somehow now an extremely compelling and competitive V8 alternative that they posed it as?

Because I know they can do MORE. The #1 R&D spender in the world, they just need to prioritize it differently, and support their largest (especially for Lexus) market.

Worldwide, it is 20% of GS sales, higher than V8 ever was.
In reality, GS450h with that price will never work in NA... so they might as well have never offered it in the US. But they did, so thats cool... it wont make it any better seller - only pricing can change that.

2015 Lexus GS 450h Adds F Sport Package
The Lexus GS 450h is getting sportier for the 2015 model year.
The Japanese automaker has announced that it is adding an F Sport package to its luxury hybrid sedan adding 19-inch staggered wheels, an F Sport tuned version of the standard Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) with Sport S+ mode and larger front brakes with hi-friction pads. The GS 450h F Sport will also include the four-wheel steering control of the Lexus Dynamic Handling System.
As expected with the rest of the F Sport packages, the GS 450h F Sport will have a unique front bumper with more aggressive styling while the rear lower valence is also sportier. In addition, the front grille gets a mesh insert while the rear gets a classy lip spoiler. For the interior, Lexus will add perforated leather trim and a 16-way power sport driver seat while the rest of the cabin is accented by striated aluminum trim, aluminum pedals and door scuff plates and a black headliner.
The Lexus GS 450h delivers a total system output of 338 hp while returning 29 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. Unfortunately, Lexus hasn’t released images of the 2015 GS 450h F Sport yet.

Report says Lexus GS F and four-door RC F coming in 2016
All-new model coming to L.A. show this November
British media is reporting Lexus will introduce the GS F and a four-door RC F sometime in 2016.
Numerous prototypes of the Lexus GS F were caught on camera last year but it seems the production version won't come out until 2016, according to sources close to Lexus cited by Autocar. With an estimated starting price of 80,000 GBP (130,500 USD / 100,700 EUR), the GS F will be powered by RC F's V8 5.0-liter engine but further tweaked to develop close to 500 bhp (373 kW) and almost 400 lb-ft (542 Nm) of torque.
Besides the engine, the GS F will also borrow the RC F's rear-wheel drive chassis and strut front / multi-link rear suspension setup while the aggressive body is expected to include a new front grille looking even more radical than it does on the 2015 RC F. The high-performance coupe is available with a carbon fiber package but at this moment it’s not known whether the GS F will receive the same treatment.
Shortly after the GS F’s introduction, Lexus will reportedly launch a four-door cheaper variant of the RC F which could possibly be followed by a convertible derivative. Before that, Lexus is believed to bring to this year's Los Angeles Auto Show in November an all-new model although its identity hasn't been disclosed. However, Toyota's Director of Business Operations, Rob Leupen, did hint a while back at a new IS F with hybrid tech.

GS F makes me giggle
Yes one of the designers said there was more power to be had of the latest 5.0

Almost 500hp from the gs? Come on lexus... Almost 500 was okay in 2003 e55. Probably gonna get **** for this but... How can anyone take the f car serious when it can barely match an amg thats over a decade old??

Keep in mind there may be several levels of F. While the RC F and GS F are slated for a NA 5.0, a new IS F may use a TTV6 and the LS F and SC F may use a TTV8 with rumored 600+hp. Design chiefs have said there is more power to be had out of this latest V8. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Let the car come out first, from there, adding power is easy.
