Meanwhile Audi is going Diesel Electric
Interesting tech coming from Toyota and Audi for future Le Mans racing

Speculation continues as to the final nature of the diesel-hybrid Audi supercar said to arrive in 2016 or 2017. A previous report in Automobile had the halo coupe, based closely on the R18 etron quattro endurance racer, codenamed R20 and pegged to look like a Le Mans winner for the street with around 700 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque from a twin-turbo V6. Now Car and Driver has updated the gossip with a report that the car is internally called "Scorpion," and it will be even closer to the R18 than supposed.
CD says the heart of the car will use the R18 etron quattro's carbon fiber tub and its engine will be "taken directly" from the race car. That means a 3.7-liter V6 with a single turbo that, in ACO-spec restricted form, outputs 500 hp and 625 lb-ft – CD suspects production output could get to 600 hp – and drives the rear wheels, aided by hybrid motors driving the front wheels. And remember, at Le Mans the R18's hybrid motors can't kick in until they're above a certain speed in order to prevent Audi from getting an advantage coming out of slow corners. A street car wouldn't face that restriction.

Lexus Champion
Audi is decent, but their 'hybrid technology' is basically borrowed from Williams. The flywheel system debuted on the Porsche 911 GT3-R Hybrid. Toyota's on the other hand is from their own previous racing experience. The Supercapacitor system was raced on the Toyota Supra HV-R Tokachi 24hr winner.

Well that was a rookie mistake but that's ok cause they are still growing. On the other hand Audis do have a pace this year and it will be even tighter than last season so I am looking for some good fights on the track.
LMP1 begs for another two manufacturer so we can have proper 8 car battles. Porsche will be there next year but wait and see how much know-how are they going to get from Audi. It will be a weird situation for sure, will Porsche play wingmen to Audis or vice versa or will they truly be independent.

WEC 6 Hours of Spa - Warm Up Session
Well at least one Toyota got in between the Audis but that is likely due to different setup in that Audi. There is 2 second gap per lap which doesn't seem very optimistic for Toyota at all.

Pole Position
1 hour into WEC 6 Hours of Spa
Toyota #8 took over 2nd place early in the race only to loose it 10 minutes later due to stupid mistake by trying to pass on Aston Martin on the outside and almost connecting with the wall.
This Toyota was quicker of the two but strange tactics in the first pit stop bypassing the tire change for some reason made other Toyota #7 pass it by in the meantime.
The only Audi longtail #3 had some problems in the pits with the doors and it dropped few places and had some hard time passing Heidfeld in Lola Toyota.
Audi #1 is way too quick and no one can match it by now.
Best chance Toyotas have right now is to overtake Audi #2, they are 2-3 seconds behind it.
In LMGTE Pro we saw awesome battle between two Ferraris and two Astons. Fisichella and Kobayashi are now driving the Ferraris and we soon should expect Astons to come get driver change for Bruno Senna as well.
Safety Car out right now! 4:50h more to go!
